Tonight on the 22:32 49 from leeds-bramley the driver told me my paypoint weekly pass should not be accepted (it was in date in a sleeve in good condition and the right area) and to buy my pass on the bus in future as drivers are being told to refuse them as they are getting rid of them yet nothing has been said and there is no mention of their withdrawal on any bus or first websites can anybody shed any light on this? As I've been told my pass will be confiscated if an inspector sees it.

I would think that the driver is pushing his luck. Try contacting First direct and seeing what they have to say about the problem with an individual driver refusing to accept your ticket

Arriva had the same problem a year or two or ago where their paypoint weekly and monthly ticketshad been forged but put warning notices on the buses and in the stations.

Yes, first up I would tweet @firstwestyorks with your problem and hope they tweet back with a confirmation of the ticket's validity which you can keep on your phone to show if it happens again. Include the info about route, time and which bus stop you were at as that should help them identify the driver. You could ask for additional confirmation another way that might be easier to keep to hand - email or text, for instance. You could also raise a formal complaint and request compensation for not getting your money's worth out of the ticket.
Whether any or all of those work or not, only time will tell...

Arriva had the same problem a year or two or ago where their paypoint weekly and monthly ticketshad been forged but put warning notices on the buses and in the stations. That problem was just at one Pay Point store, they were using a second printer and charging less than the correct price, which bypassed paying Arriva, and also spelt it as Monthly not at 4 Weekly

That paypoint wasn't the one on a side street near the leisure centre opposite Wakefield Bus Station by any chance? Was in the travel centre in the bus station getting a weekly ticket when this very frustrated couple walked in saying they'd just bought an Arriva ticket using that newsagents paypoint and were told by a driver it was a forgery. The travel office staff confirmed it was as well.

I believe AY had a purge early one morning on 189 and 496 and confiscated a few dozen 'forgeries' on both services. Penfold

Penfold Oh right, Thank You, Penfold for that info, I knew only about the Cleckheaton one, cos of the notices that were put in the Bus Station, advising people to go to the next nearest shop, which was about 5 min walk away.
