I had expected the resurfacing to be complete as route 72 was extended back to the bus station last weekend. Maybe they suspended resurfacing works to conclude them all over the next 2 weekends.

They've finished all the bays, they have to do the rest of the roads now.

The Eastgate stop looks a bit odd for the 36, given that a lot of passengers get off at U7 normally (and which presumably will not be served) - would have been more logical for that to be the terminal

The stops for Coastliner and Cityzap look odd as they are facing into town

The stops for Coastliner and Cityzap look odd as they are facing into town But there's an easy turnaround via Harper Street, Kirkgate and New York Street and back out the way they came in.

There is, but by the time they've done all that, they could be a couple of minutes down, particularly in terms of the tightly timed Cityzap.

Not mentioned in the original post is the 757 to Leeds Bradford Airport, which will use stand 7 in the Coach Station.

That has been the case for a few months I believe, so I omitted it.

No, they are back in the regular bus station now all the stands have been resurfaced and are back in use. That was certainly the case today when I was down there at lunchtime.

Where the National Express get into the Coach Station? They may go in via the exit, like they've done a couple of times before in the past, with a person stood there, controlling flow of traffic or they may come down that street at the side of the market to come in via entrance

They may turn in from St Peter's street via the bus station exit to get to the coach station entrance

Dependingons exactly how much is shut off at any one time, they could probably also run along the back end of the already resurfaced stopping bays. Or just possibly round the layover area. Isn't there also an emergency gate towards the Eastgate end that could be opened?

I was thinking about the emergency gate at Eastgate end.
I forgot all about George Street (side of market) to get in the entrance to the coach station.
