Hi Tim, Whilst having my dinner in Sainsbury's in Blackpool today, a 158 came into Blackpool North. It was a 2 car one, but then I noticed a third carriage which was nose to nose with the rear carriage, which would mean that setting off for York again, there would be no cab!!! Waited about 15 minutes, and there was no sign of a run to the Carriage sidings. It just seemed so really strange. Any ideas Tim?

It'll have been a 153 tagged on. Was it between 2 & 3 o clock you saw it?

If you were having lunch just after 2pm, it would have been 158794+153360, the 153 having a cab at either end of the one carriage.

To be fair Tim, I only saw it at the last minute, but I would have swore that the inner cab end of the third vehicle was of the 158 rounded sort as opposed to the square 153 ends, and that is what probably made me think it very strange. My other thought was that it could have been a way of reuniting a split set, but obviously that was not the case. Anyway, it's been a long time since I've seen a 153 in BPN so I suppose that was a 'bonus' and the lasagne was pretty nice!!!!!

The only other thing it could have been was a 3 car 158 (there were a couple on York - Blackpool duties) meaning the middle car had no cab.

Going back a few years when Arriva were running TPE, I remember riding a 158 in 2+1 formation with a driving car in the centre. Judging how blackened with dirt the cab was it had been running round like that for weeks.
