First Transpennine Express are dropping the First from their title from the 1st April. How will dropping the word Worst(sorry First) from the name improve their operations.

The design of the original TPE logo had Keolis parts to it. The new logos we're to big to put any First related logos on. They'll probably change soon.

Seems to be a thing these days. Arriva don't have their logo's anywhere near CrossCountry (or the soon to be theirs ) new Northern franchise, First dropped their name from Great Western and of course Scotrail remains the same regardless of operator.

So Northern is going to be the brand. Similar to southern, Gatwick express, thameslink and great northern being brands of Govia Thameslink Railway.

As I understand it, the 'renaming' of First TransPennine Express is simply to remove the franchisee's name from the franchise, rather as has been done in the case of Scotrail, so that in future the name will stay the same irrespective of owner.

Saw a couple of Northern trains debranded (Just Logos) today, getting ready for new logos to be applied.

It's been going on a couple of weeks, the outgoing TOC has to remove their brand. All the logos on the posters have been stickered over as well.
I read in a magazine that TPE's decision to rebrand with a new livery was their choice, as we've seen them move away from being entirely corporate, and not anything to with the DfT.

Hitachi awarded TransPennine Express multiple-unit contract www.railwaygazette.com/news/traction-rolling-stock/single-view/view/hitachi-awarded-transpennine-express-multiple-unit-contract.htmlUK: First TransPennine Express Ltd has awarded Hitachi Rail Europe and leasing company Angel Trains a contract to supply 19 five-car AT300 electro-diesel multiple units for use on the TransPennine Express franchise in northern England from December 2019. The contract was announced on March 31, the day before the new TransPennine Express franchise starts. FirstGroup said the AT300 would be ‘amongst the most advanced inter-city trains in the UK’, and ‘completely remodel the experience of train travel in the North’. The AT300 trainset will be ‘closely related’ to the Class 800 electro-diesel trainsets being supplied under the Department for Transport’s Intercity Express Programme, but to cope with the gradients on the TransPennine network they will utilise higher engine operating power, and be equipped with larger fuel tanks and brake resistors. They will have a service speed of 200 km/h, but with the capability for running at 225 km/h subject to the provision of suitable infrastructure.

Just seen the new rebrand and also 185 108 seems to be sporting a new livery. It's almost like a modern "northern" livery.

Ironically, First are dropping the name First from TPE just as their stake rises from 55% to 100%! First have also dropped their corporate name from Great Western and are repainting trains into a green livery with GWR branding. Some trains were green prior to the First takeover in 1998! Hitachi awarded TransPennine Express multiple-unit contract www.railwaygazette.com/news/traction-rolling-stock/single-view/view/hitachi-awarded-transpennine-express-multiple-unit-contract.htmlUK: First TransPennine Express Ltd has awarded Hitachi Rail Europe and leasing company Angel Trains a contract to supply 19 five-car AT300 electro-diesel multiple units for use on the TransPennine Express franchise in northern England from December 2019. They will have a service speed of 200 km/h, but with the capability for running at 225 km/h subject to the provision of suitable infrastructure. These are very sleek trains, and could almost look suited to high-speed lines.

This indeed is the new generic TPE livery. Although opinions on livery are always subjective rather than objective, i'll throw my hat into the ring by stating, i think the new livery looks great and, much as i liked the Dynamic lines livery, this looks so much brighter, cleaner and smarter. Having seen the mock-up pictures of the new Hitachi trains which TPE will be receiving in a couple of years time, I think they look truly amazing and given the fact Arriva are investing in new state of the art CAF trains for it's franchise here, We really could be about to see a new "golden age" of rail travel in this region. I'm enthused about the fact, that in the near future the Pacers will be consigned to CF Booth, and we will be able to transverse the Pennines, in what is essentially, a mini Japanese bullet train

Not sure what you mean by "generic", it's the toc now known as Transpennine Express's new livery
There has been no suggestion it is like Scotrail and will outlive this franchise.

I think 'generic' here is meaning 'to be applied across the whole fleet'.
That would make sense, given the reference to the mock-up of the new Hitachi fleet and the class 185 both in the new TPE livery.

Maybe i should have made that clearer for other posters to grasp.
