A notice has appeared on bus saying Services 521, 522 and 523 are relaunching and Red Arrow will arrive on Friday. As there is no mention yet on the website can someone shed any light on what effect this will have on these services which are my local bus route?

Attachment Deleted66748, 66749, 66765, 69578, 69579, 69580 all branded and in use today All 521/522/523 duties were B7RLE operated although as well as these six there were some standard livery ones as well. The Solos seem to have moved to Mixenden services as 53301 & 53303 were on there today I also picked up a leaflet, the selling points are; - up to 12 buses an hour - Free Wi-Fi access** - Leather Seats ** services 522/523 only

I think branding should have been an all over livery or part route branding, rather than half way.
Also why free wifi access on less frequent 522/523 but not on 521?

I was told last night, that there are to be 10 in the red livery, and the Calder Valley main routes are to receive a green version, no info on a name for those though. Came from somebody at First who would definitely know. Apparently, however, there is a problem with Wi-Fi on the valley routes, no surprise there really.

I'm guessing the 522/3 will be the ones using the 3 eclipse 2s mentioned to have been branded (I think the pvr for these routes is 3) so makes sense

WiFi works fine when i'm robbing it while sat at Todmorden Bus Station

Classic First publicity - not a sausage about it on their website.

Now, forgive me if this sounds a bit cynical. First's main competitor in the north of Halifax is TJ Walsh who have a red livery. How very convenient for First to choose a similar shade of red for its 'Red Arrow' branding, as the picture above shows. Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Bloody hell when did TJ Hughes move from running department stores to running buses lol I take it you meant Walsh.

Strange launching a service upgrade/rebranding on a Friday, usually start these things on Sundays.

As there is no timetable change, it doesn't need to be Sunday/Monday.
I doubt passengers will mistake a full sized First bus with one of TJ Walsh's primos despite the similar red colour, plus First's branding isn't entirely red. No coincidence that they've done the branding here though, as excluding their interurban services, it is the main Halifax corridor, and they've probably lost so much market share to TJW over the years.

I'd like to bet that your average punter wouldn't always know which operator operates which route. (It matters more to those of us interested in these things than to the man on the street) As to the size of the bus, from the front, a bus is a bus is a bus... We sometimes forget that most folk aren't that observant when it comes to what goes on around them...

I will tell you what it is Matty, First pay their drivers considerably more than their competitors including Yorkshire Tiger, TLC and TJ Walsh, and will always find it difficult in a competitive tendering market to secure new work and retain existing. We all go to work for money and despite Firsts many inadequacies' I am grateful I work for them as opposed the aforementioned above.

I have told you once ,its cost effective scheduling! where ever route branding is used on buses anywhere in the country occasional crossover will occur! it is just not practical for 100% compliance. For the record you are right it was a Red Arrow bus on a service 512!!!

I think because whenever a misallocation is posted there is always an undertone of "typical First incompetence, the allocator should be sacked immediately"
In reality, even if one bus was misallocated all day, the remaining ones will have been allocated properly.
