I thought I would ask this question about whether a Saturday Bus Timetable operated on Good Friday is necessary as from what buses I had seen today, they were lightly loaded. Therefore bus companies must be operating at a loss with having to pay drivers a bank holiday premium etc.
Also in West Yorkshire, we seem to be privileged on having the Saturday service provided whilst the population on the "wrong" side of the Pennines receives a Sunday service on Good Friday.
What do you think about this subject, what were the loadings like on bus journeys you made?

First Bradford were operating a normal Friday service today, as were Stagecoach, Harrogate, Coastliner and some other operators
With all shops open normal hours, no sunday trading rules etc, a Saturday service is perfectly ok

i believe as it is a bank holiday it should be saturday hours. profit for the firm would have been down unless it is agreed that pay isn't time+1/2 etc. and is just normal time. every other bank holiday see's sat/sun service so why shouldn't this one?

I dont really see why Easter Monday differs from Good Friday service though. Both are just normal Bank Holidays

I think that more people work on Good Friday than other bank holidays which may be the reason for an increased service. Yesterday First Leeds actually provided the 'enhanced' Saturday service which normally runs between Christmas and New Year, with several extra early morning buses to cater for workers.
