Is anyone old enough and can remember when Bradford Interchange was in full use with all 6 platforms in operation.
I know buses were generally more frequent back then, but I can't imagine how they managed to spread out the services across stands A, B, C, D, E & F. That's 72 stands!
Does anyone know when D, E & F were closed. I know they remained as a temporary car park for years afterwards before Abbey National moved in.

they could only use alternate stands, buses being twice the distance betwwen doors (unless minibuses!)
there were still routes that avoided the interchange due to timings & most coaches used the adjacent coach park (service coaches on platform F) one annoying aspect was services were grouped by operator rather than corridor

As a kid, never used the Interchange much.
Would always pick up the bus home on either Sunbridge Rd/Westgate (WYRCC or K&D) or Cheapside/Manor Row (YR).
Can't remember how it worked while they demolished the old bus station and built the current one though. Seem to remember buses stopping on Nelson St but i don't know if this was the same time and what stopped where.

I've got that all documented. Platform A was kept open with B & C demolished to build the new bus station.
You also had Stands B, C, D, E alongside the Nelson Street entrance where there used to be car parking for Metrochange House staff, Stands F, G & H on Nelson Street itself and Stands I & J alongside the railway right at the far end of the concourse the other side of Croft Street, miles away. Manningham Lane buses used these stops (622 group & 662). Coaches went from the old coach park and the Shophopper was bumped back into the forecourt.
When the new bus station opened, the bays initially operated as flat stands (every 5th or so being in use) so they could knock down the old Platform A.

i used to get the bus to baildon from bus stops in the enterance, i think there were 3 or 4 built on the edge as you drive in from manchester road side, all holiday coaches used to go from the far end, remember going to spain on a double decker coach from the F stands
