A while since I set a teaser - but expect a couple of fairly long established routes in the Bradford / Calderdale Districts to be withdrawn by First in the latest round of changes.

Ok the clue is in the word 'fairly' meaning established but not as long as other routes. Let's see, many routes in Bradford have been round for some time but thinking about it, the 505 has been around for a handfull of years giving it the status of fairly well established, and more importantly doesn't link into a school service any more so could this be one? Maybe it'll be replaced by an extention of another route, e.g one 504 journey each way? The 505 also goes into Calderdale! I'm also wondering if the other route is the 560 as past Sowerby it's mainly Yorkshire Tiger who run services, going by the mostly good loadings on the Yorkshire Tiger 528 up to Ripponden, I'm guessing the 560 doesn't have quite as big a market share as First would like.

This is interesting - but you are not anywhere near! The route numbers date from post 1974 since formation of the WYPTE - but one of the routes has recently been truncated. Now that should allow for some more creative thinking. It is the last date for registrations today, so you still have time for some guessing. I must also add these are proposals, so we will have to wait and see. No further replies from me now as I am off to my son's wedding for the weekend!

Got one of them, the 570 was truncated recently, one of them has got to be that one! Now I'm wondering if that's withdrawn, so too will the 571?

My original post was 570/1 and then I edited it after remembering the Calder valley changes. Post 1974, recently truncated it as to be 570/1 !!! Just as a matter of interest the 560 does very well for First taking considerably more money than the 528 ever did. That's why the 560 is the only commercial service up the Ryburn valley.

If 570/1 both go Metro will have to find replacement services for many areas (St Enochs, North Buttershaw, Wibsey, the Brighouse Estates, Southowram). There has also been a petition from Whinney Hill requesting a 30 minute service
Is a Brighouse minibus network the answer to some of these links?

Don't think there will all go, I imagine FIRST will continue running to Lightcliffe/Hipperholme via Southowram and Brighouse,the at risk section in my view is Hipperholme to Bradford.

Right let's get thinking, it MIGHT have something to do with the 570/1 meaning these routes could be part replacing other routes! the 613 and 614 spring to mind perhaps with an increased frequency up to Buttershaw and the section of 570 from Wibsey to Buttershaw at Carr House Road being served by extending the 847? The rest of the 570/1 from Wibsey by St Enoch's Road to Bradford appeares to be well served by other routes e.g the 640/1. It doesn't answer the question as to what's being withdrawn in Calderdale though so perhaps the twist could be that the 570/1 turn off at Shelf quite close to the border with Calderdale and follow the 539 route to Queensbury along the Brighouse and Denholme Gate Road in order to replace the 610 through to Bradford, this became hourly recently and was curtailed to run from Bradford to Queensbury instead of Shipley, perhaps Hunger Hill residents have complained about the hourly timetable and want more buses. Now I realise the 610 is only 1 withdrawl, what about the other, well I'm guessing that'll be the 539 with replacements coming in the form of an extension to Queensbury only for one of the Illingworth services. Edit -just realised I've not considered the bottom half of the 539 from Halifax to Stainland, maybe this is being kept but re-numbered?

That 650's interesting, maybe TLC have reviewed the 653 and are either slipping in extra journeys running as a 650 from Shipley to complement the 737s or they're cutting the majority of journeys to run Shipley to Otley only.
I feel almost right about my guess with the 610 but I've a funny feeling only a re-routed 570 will be replacing it as obviously the 571 is just a timetable change, and if that's happening then will it see the end of the 539 as I can't see the 570 and 539 both running on the section from Shelf to Queensbury even though the 539 runs on a limited basis that way.

I wonder what changes will be made to FGM 184 Manchester-Huddersfield route?. It is being reported that the times will be changed in Greater Manchester, speeding up the journeys now that the Metrolink work in Oldham town centre has pretty much finished. Could open the door for a return to the joint operation of the Huddersfield-Manchester journeys with First West Yorkshire but First GM may decide to keep the whole service, we'll have to wait and see. What will replace the 610 will be interesting, could the 539 be extended to Bradford instead?
If it was the 570, would it still run a loop around Shelf first as running direct from Hipperholme to Hungerhill would be a strange route missing out a lot of potential passengers

You could run the 570 from Bradford to Shelf, then up to Hungerhill - there and back in an hour, therefore maintaining the Queensbury - Bradford link, but this new route does not have to operated by First! Little patronage from Hipperholme to Shelf and most of the other route from Hipperholme to Rastrick is duplicated by others, remember the 571 is being retained.
