Does anyone have a history of the independant operators that currently run (South Yorkshire, M Travel, K-Line etc.) When did they start and what routes have they served in the past. What bus(es) did they start out with? Any information about independants that no longer exist would be good too. I found an excellent site on fotopic with pictures of several independants that have operated in the past - some that I have never heard of and some more familiar ones gallery41664.fotopic.net/Thanks in advance.

Blue Bus were virtually run off the road by YR. They ran a half hourly 621 between Bradford and Bierley. YR put on extras just before them (probably to the detriment of other routes) using their newest buses (5200-22 series) Abbeyways had the evening contract on 251/2 (or it could have been 603/4 in those days) but this was short lived. Halifax Joint Committee still run into Bradford of course. Ok - not an west yorks independent, but Lancaster City Transport used to run the 200 between Morecambe and Leeds via Bradford, on certain days of the week. It was an alternative to the x6 !

Blue bus also operated the 624 between Bradford and Cottingley which led to an interesting choice to get to school. Yorkshire Rider Northern Counties Volvo Olympian or Roe bodied Leyland Olympian or Blue Bus Alexander bodied Leopard or Tiger? Blue Bus were virtually run off the road by YR. I wish Black Prince were still around! I don't think the fleet would of changed much since 2005 either! The Scania Deckers could of run forever with Black Prince.
