As you will have noticed, the forum has upgraded to the new Proboards system. The content and setup of the forum is much the same, there are a few new features and improvements and cosmetic differences, but otherwise things are generally unchanged. As you will have already discovered, Proboards have changed the way in which you first log in to the new forum.
One new function on Proboards is the "Shoutbox". This appears at the bottom of every page and is a chat box for anyone to post and have live conversations that can be read by everyone on the forum. I have enabled this function and will monitor its progress; if it is popular then of course we will keep it. Please be mindful that usual forum rules will apply and members will be expected to use this appropriately.
A new function in the top right hand corner is "Participated" which quickly links you to all the threads you have recently posted in, should you want to re-visit it and check any replies.
There are several new items added such as enhanced abilities to create a forum avatar (should you so desire). I haven't had the chance to fully assess every section of the forum and I am not yet aware of every single change that has been made by Proboards. If you notice any kind of error in using the forum (pages or images not loading, text not aligned properly, etc) then please let us know by either replying here or sending a message to myself or Tim.
Please post any general views or suggestions regarding the refreshed look below.
May I also apologise for the lack of notice given in performing this upgrade and I hope the downtime has not caused too much of an inconvenience to you.
Regards Craig TWY Forum

I have to confess, i dont really like it. Much preferred the older look, but better this than no forum at all. In time we'll get use to it.

Pretty awful on a 10 inch tablet, no way zooming to enlarge text whixh is very small compared to the old forum. Also delete post function does not seem to work.

I agree with Matty. Probably just me (Im useless with computers anyway), But i dont know how to post a reply when ive used the "quote" function from a previous thread. It was easy on the previous forum.

It was easy on the previous forum. Click the quote button and at the end of whatever you are quoting will be: [/quote] Either click immediately to the right of that and press enter to move down a line, or click on the line below and start typing. As long as you type your reply after the [/quote] bit, it should work. Tim.

I think it should have a revamp & be done like SY Forum Must say Matyy I do actually agree with you. The SY forum lools good with all the images and modelling of the forum. The WY forum ised to be the same but now seems to have changed? Also the problem I have is that the text is too big on here yet on the SY forum it is just right.

Unnecessary tinkering. All this unnecessary tinkering just for the sake of it.

Sorry not to fall in with all the negativity but I think the new look is nice – would be better if the default avatar wasn't quite so huge and striking, but that's a minor niggle. I really don't see any problem with the new setup.

Thanks Tim, For your advice. On the previous forum that's exactly what i did with no problems, however on this new forum once i've done that and pressed the reply button, all i get is a blank screen!. Obviously im doing something wrong, as other posters have managed to reply having quoted other posts. I just wish i knew more about computers sometimes.

Thanks all for your feedback. I've made a few minor changes. As some people have reported the text to be too big and some too small, I have hopefully remedied this so the text size is acceptable no matter what device you are accessing it on. If it hasn't helped (or if I've made things worse for you!) please let me know.
In reply to the comments about the forum copying the SY forum style. I'm not quite sure I understand as the two forums look pretty similar (apart from the obvious colour difference). The only other real difference is that SYT uses graphics in some of their menu links where this forum doesn't, however this was also the case on the old forum. This is simply because I don't have any non copyright suitable images to use. Aside from that, what other major differences are there on SYT than here?
Also I will just reiterate that these changes were going to be implemented by Proboards within the next couple of months regardless of our preference for the old version. Anyone who uses other Proboards forums will probably have noticed changes to the same style as now used here. What we do have flexibility for is editing colour and some styling options and that is what I have tried to achieve, by not using the plain standard forum setup and also keeping the now established colour scheme of TWY.
All further feedback, negative or positive, is gratefully received, in order to try and make the best use of this new forum design and make any further changes which will improve things overall.

The smaller text has helped a bit. In this quick reply box at the bottom, is it possible for you to make the font larger and a better font & possibly move or get rid of the boxes below the reply box because I used to just jump straight to the bottom of the page but I have to scroll up a bit to see the box now...

The quick reply box now has a large font size. I can't get rid of the new box which appears below the quick reply box as this is mandatory advertising added by Proboards on free forums. The shoutbox can be removed - it hasn't really been used yet but I'll give it a little while longer before I pull the plug.
Also I've got rid of the avatar alien head image and replaced it with a nice little bit of TWY forum branding. If you don't like that, you can create your own avatar or upload an image.

I agree with Matty. Probably just me (Im useless with computers anyway), But i dont know how to post a reply when ive used the "quote" function from a previous thread. It was easy on the previous forum. The easiest way is to click to reply, then before typing your reply change the setting from BBCode to Visual (just beneath the space where you type). This will then show you the reply as it will look on the page. There may be a way for me to make "Visual" the default setting but as yet I've not found it, I will check this again some other time.
