Hi I know I'm picking up an old thread but does anybody know why most 59s are now leaving Wakefield Bus Station onto Marsh Way and then coming down Northgate? Might depend on what stand they can get on to for departure that or they find it quicker to do that

Does stagecoach own Megabus as I aint too sure sorry Yes, Stagecoach group last time I looked. Not been on the X62 recently, but guess that means the end of ENTCS “free” travel and just jumping on the bus?? From 21 June Leeds – Hull (four trips), non-stop (the first journey TO Hull and the last FROM Hull ONLY, call at Airmyn Road). The service will be integrated into the current Megabus network.

X10 is now run by anything but predominatley one of the deckers.

Guessing more people would use the train than the X10 from Barnsley to Leeds, as I think theres 2 trains an hour that are non stop from Barnsley to Leeds, the Leeds to Sheff express and the one from Nottingham

Just looked at bustimes and it seems 3 e300s (27187, 27188 & 27206) are used Monday-Friday and then its 2 of the e400MMCs on a Saturday & Sunday or 2 of the e300s depending on demand.

You've also got to factor which side of town you want to be at.

If it was still operated by the coaches, then my point of view would be different but considering its ran by horrible e300s in the week, give me the train anyday. Don't the 158s or 195s or whatever they use these days on the train have leather seats, tables, free wifi, next stop announcements ect?

You must have a lot of spare cash lol, the buses aren't that bad and you could argue that they're cleaner than some trains. The bus is also flexible and doesn't require the user to stick to specific journeys in order to get a reasonable priced ticket.

If the journeys weren't operated by those horrible Stagecoach E300's then I would change my mind. Those stagecoach e300s are really uncomfortable for me, I have travelled on the 59 numerous times with stagecoach's e300 and e200s and their horrible to sit in, their seats are plastically. Those buses are just as bad as Arriva Yorkshire E200 Mini's. Surely trains aren't that expensive if you book a ticket in advance, or commuters have season tickets don't they?

Besides X60s are mostly operated by Pulsars and E400MMC's anyway both comfortable buses to ride on for a X route I'm sure.

The thing with the trains from Barnsley is this route you would have to book quite a bit in advance to get the advance tickets, most routes you can book advance tickets for travel a day or two before, but I did a mock booking for this Saturday and an off-peak train return is 9.60, this is over £11 for an anytime return which commuters would use. The dayrider price that you need to take the X10 is £7.20. Two trains per hour, one stopper service (55m) and one express (34m), the stopper in fact takes 5 minutes longer than the X10 does. And the trains from Barnsley are not very well spaced apart, with the stopper at :30 past the hour and the express at :40 past, the X10 is at :10 past so if you miss the express the X10 is a better option than waiting for the next train. X10 doesn't tend to get too busy except at peak times, most weekdays it is on an E300 with operation on doubles on SOME weekends where they anticipate the demand for it.

I thought there was always 2 expresses an hour from Barnsley to Leeds, the one that comes from Nottingham, and the Sheffield to Leeds express with the stopper via castleford too. During Covid, the Leeds—Sheffield express has been suspended, and so there is just the one fast train to Barnsley (to/from Nottingham) at the moment, plus the stopper.

Ah thought it might have been routed via Westgate or something instead, as I heard talk of one of the expresses being routed via Westgate could be wrong on that.

In Feb 2020 there were two express trains per hour from Leeds to Sheffield via Barnsley, one to Nottingham and one to Lincoln, the latter of which has been suspended
