TLC have apparantly got the Hebden Bridge and Todmorden Minibus contract because Metro have been wanting Tyrer out because they have had hundreds of complaints about them not turning up or running early and they were looking for a new operator and now TLC have agreed to run them but part of the contract states they must use Todmorden depot to run the services from.

Now while this is very good news for TLC i really do worry where all the extra resources are coming from? I don't want them to have a month of hell, because they don't have enough buses to run services and thus choose which buses they want to run.

The solos are owned by Metro so will come with the contracts won't they? I guess TLC would also take the drivers on?

It isn't confirmed yet so don't make up loads of predictions, Just heard that Metro was in talks with TLC about taking them over and they have agreed, they might pull out yet.

Todmorden Depot wasn't part of the deal as it still belongs to First so I fail to see how that can be part of this tender?

In the latest Calderdale Metro papers, Tyrers have given Metro notice that they want to hand back the contract.

The Hebden Bridge & Todmorden locals are back out for tender for change in July (the tender closing date isn't for a month) so no new operator has yet been decided and won't be announced for a while.

Any update on the situation for the Hebden Bridge Contracts? The tender deadline was only Friday morning (27th April) so they are unlikely to have even begun looking at them yet. I wouldn't expect the announcement for a couple of weeks yet at the earliest.

Noted today on the first day of Keighley services were E200 12665 (MX12DZF), 12616 (MX12DZB), and 12??? (MX12DZD), also a plain white E200 unnumbered MX09MHV. On the old Tyrer services was slim solo YJ10EYX.

Hope they are better quality than other E200's i've experienced. They actually look decent quality although I've not travelled on one. From what I saw of TLC today they seemed to be doing a good job - only criticism would be they aren't yet showing real time at bus stops

One thing i've noticed.
I believe Metro were helping TLC financially with new ticket machines. These are unusual in that the driver has a pda style thing on a stand similar in size to an avantix used by Northern Rail conductors with a seperate printer, which presumably also has the bus pass swipe equipment.

With their Solos they usually use the last 4 digits of the 17 digit vehicle identification number so am assuming a similar principle has been adopted with the 5 figure Enviro fleet numbers.

Whilst the big companies won't receive any and are sourcing through their favoured national supplier (as is becoming more common - it used to be they would take the machines from the council for a specific area but since they have each begun rolling out smartcard enabled machines nationally they are more rigid on not diluting that with non-standard machines - quite sensibly in my experience), as many have already begun to do, Metro are intending that all the smaller operators will receive the Ticketer equipment (whether they all want to use these machines is another matter that I'm not privy to).

New Alexander Dennis Enviro 200s in use by TLC Travel on their new services in Bradford and Keighley are:
12616 (MX12DZB) 12617 (MX12DZC) 12663 (MX12DZD) 12664 (MX12DZE) 12665 (MX12DZF) 12877 (MX12DZG) 12878 (MX12DZH) 12879 (MX12DZJ)
All carry TLC Travel blue & cream fleet livery.
Also in use is overall white Enviro 200 MX09MHV and Optare Solos MX57UPM and MX58ACJ
Optare Solo 3097 (MX09MJF) has been acquired from Tyrer Bus, Nelson. It's still in Tyrer livery but with the gold bits taken off and TLC fleetnames. I think they are planning on leaving it like this as the livery is quite similar to TLCs.
The full run out today, excluding MetroLocal services and Accessbuses was:
605/606 - Solo YN53ZWE 653 - Solo X171NWR 947 - Enviro MX09MHV 966 - Solo MX56NLL 967 - Solos MX54KXV, MX54KYK
649 - Solo MX09MJF 629/678 - Enviro MX12DZE/DZJ 656/660/679 - Enviro MX12DZC/DZG/DZH, Solo MX58ACJ
708/715 - Enviro MX12DZB 716/727/729 - Enviro MX12DZD/DZF 915/916 - Solo MX57UPM

The view in this picture is quite pretty, and I don't just mean for the bus! My current plan is to come to the area on the August Bank Holiday, but with TLC probably only running on Mon-Sat I may well come on a Saturday instead.

There probably the same as the ones that Bl Travel have, if they are then there called Ticketers Heres some photos on their website www.ticketer.org.uk/Metro have selected Ticketer as supplier for new smartcard enabled machines for West Yorkshire. At the end of the day the choice of ticket machine is up to the individual operator/group. In the case of West Yorkshire, to aide SmartCard roll out for smaller operators Ticketer was selected as mentioned above. However the units are not owned by Metro, each operator leases them from Ticketer. It's quite a smart, and easy piece of kit to use - live updates for smartcards/fare-updates and more so very simple to oeprate when in use.
