Following the aside in another thread, does anyone remember all the old style route branding that Arriva used before the current 'Connecting...' era
In the early Arriva days there went route branding mad with many vehicles branded for many services (Olympians, Metroriders etc)
Can anyone remember which buses were branded for what?

I remember some Castleford based single deckers (419 and 420 were definately two of 'em) being branded 410/1/4 (Leeds-Pontefract-Doncaster). A route transferred to Castleford after the old SYRT depot @ Pontefract closed down. The 41O was Leeds-Pontefract-Doncaster (via a short trip down the A1). 414 same route to Pontefract. Then Knottingley and Askern to Donny. The 411 was a shorter version of the 414 terminating @ Knottingley (Broomhill Avenue).

The Metroriders (when BI had them) were route branded for the town services (ie 101/2, 114/5 etc).

Goodness yeah... the orange bars with red spots representing key places served, with the placenames in white at a 45 degree angle?
Looking back that early route branding seems quite amateurish to what we're seeing right now!

Some of Volvos 406 etc were branded for X33. Some of Volvos 102 etc were CATS branded for X33. 102,3,4,6,7 & 8 were CATS branded 109 although at Heckmondwike with the rest never carried it. It 109 was usually found on Route 259 between Dewsbury and Bradford

Some MPDs at Castleford were branded for the 135/6/7 (or whatever the numbers were at that time) Only Presidents from 689 to 696 were branded for the 268, 687 and 688 were unbranded and on Saturdays could be found working on the X33 inplace of the renowns due to the loadings on that service. The Castleford MPD's at the time were 221, 223-228. I think they were all branded. 226 later carried that allover Redish Metro livry for a service I cannot remember

Had a slogan of "one city ... Wakefield one" or something near to that?

That odd R reg bus (indicator lights on the roof) - number 200? - was branded for 284 whilst at Dewsbury. Some ALX 200's had 278/279 branding and ALX 300's 201/2/3.

I'm open to correction though. Penfold

The odd 200 was inherited from Jaronda travel It was painted allover white and was in parked at the back of the Belle Isle shed for well over 12 months after it was withdrawn. Not sure where it is now

The Arriva/West Riding forerunner to 435/6 was the 484 (Wakefield - Holmfirth) which operated through to Leeds earlier
