Stagecoach can't have given up entirely in Huddersfield, they did win a contract out of what they bid for. Ok so its only a Summer Sunday service, but at least they actually won something, bit annoyed that Metro have just gone for the cheaper bid, would have thought commonsense prevailed and they would award it to the Monday-Saturday daytime operator, but thats Metro for you. At least it puts the Sunday requirement upto 3 with the 900, will be interested to see if they continue to borrow a Solo off Barnsley as tehy currently do with the 61A.

It would have been good to see K-Line operate the 262 as they also put in a bid for the evening and Sunday services. I think it's a bad move awarding Arriva everything. From experience, they are the worst company in the area. They also have a habit of reducing services - something that has already happened due to the end of the cross boundary services.
Out of interest, which garage will the 231/2 and 262 operate out of? Dewsbury or Wakefield?

I agree with your opinion of Arriva.
They have operated the 231/2 evenings and Sundays before out of Dewsbury, so I imagine it would be the same, along with the 262.

But Arriva did offer a large discount if it won all these contracts, and Metro are duty bound to provide best value for money on the taxpayers' behalf.

Wouldn't be too sure on Stagecoach giving up in Huddersfield, they seem to have won the Summer Sundays service 900 between Huddersfield and Hebden Bridge. Nice extension to their network, even though its Summer Sundays only. Monday to Saturday service (which K-Line will still retain) is a separate contract to the Sunday service apparently.
It seems that Stagecoach have waived this award of tender, as K-Line are now listed on wymetro.com as running all services. I guess it's in preparation for the take-over by Arriva.
