Today:
K5 to Keighley (unusually operated by B10BLE Y177HRN due to 2 Solos being off the road due to vandalism). 62 to Ilkley - B7RLE/Wright 962 Ilkley to Otley - Transbus Dart (running 20 mins late when i boarded, 30 mins late after doing the Hebers Ghyll/Ben Rhydding loop. Journey cancelled between Ilkley and Otley, but driver carried us through to Otley.) X84 to Leeds - E400MMC. Easily the best double deckers in the First fleet. Smooth, comfortable and look stunning! X6 to Bradford - Streetdeck. Comfortable and great engine noise. 616 to Wilsden - B7L. Sounded like some part of the driveline was about to fall off, but prefer a B7L to a B7RLE. 727 to Keighley - E200. K5 to Thwaites Brow and back. Y178HRN. So weird to have a big bus on this. First time in i think at least 25 years i've travelled up Long Lee Lane on a full size bus. Last time would have been a VRT, National or Tiger coach in the days of WYRCC.

Route X19 was my first ever Scania - E300 ride, back in 2013. Route 409 is potentially my least known Arriva route in the area. After I saw a Volvo B5LH on route 410 on the August Bank Holiday, I may try to locate one on a Bank Holiday next year. I see you did not treat yourself to route 770 or 771 home as an alternative to route 36. Mind you, your trip must have taken around 8 hours anyway.

Decided this morning to get a Transdev Daytripper ticket. It was literally a last minute decision so had no journey or trip plan. It was just the case of see what bus I can get when I get there. So I took: Trans H&D 3623, Harrogate to Leeds on route 36 Trans Yorkshire Coastliner 427, to York on route 843 Trans York 2754, to Leeds on route CityZap Trans K&D 2717, to Keighley on route 760 Trans B&P 1869, to Nelson on route M4 (lovely route over Pendle Hill country) Trans B&P 1860, to Burnley on route M2 Trans B&P 2743, to Skipton on route X43 Trans K&D 1825, to Keighley on route 66 (was hoping for one of the new Optare Versa's but it wasn't to be on this occasion) Trans K&D 1813, to Shipley on route 662 Trans K&D 2716, to Leeds on route 760 Trans H&D 3622, Leeds to Harrogate on route 36 All in all it was a decent day and certainly not bad for just £9. I will certainly do it again but I will do it on a Saturday or a week day next time, and also hopefully get to Blackburn and maybe even Manchester. Cheers Andy

I know I am going to get some stick for this but do you not consider that you are abusing the system boy jumping on a train that is obviously running late and then claiming a refund.

Bearing in mind at the time I had an off peak day ticket on the train, so I had no other choice than to jump on the first available train. What else did you expect me to do? Walk from York to Newark?? It's not a question of me purposefully jumping on the train to claim a refund, it's a question of that being my planned route, and that was the only available train until about 7pm that night at least

Went to play on Stagecoach Manchester's Enviro 400 MMC's in South East Manchester today.
Metrolink - 3097 - Ashton Moss P&R to Ashton-under-Lyne 330 - 10585 - Ashton to Hyde 201 - 10471 - Hyde to Manchester 192 - 12191 - Manchester to Stockport 330 - 10578 - Stockport to Ashton Metrolink - 3102 - Ashton to Ashton Moss P&R
My verdict, although a very good looking bus, from a personal passengers perspective I found the MMC's to be quite uncomfortable. They seemed to have very stiff suspension, either that or the roads in South East Manchester are particularly bad, quite the worst ride quality since I rode between Rotherham and Barnsley on some of First's ALX400 bodied Volvo B7TL's. In comparison the hybrid on the 192 was much more comfortable. It may just be how these buses are set up so I'll reserve final judgement until I've tried others elsewhere.

Had a week in South Wales recently and was pretty successful in gathering photo's of the First Cymru fleet with 72% of Ravenhill's allocation snapped and 61% of Port Talbot's buses photographed.
First Cymru has a good selection of almost entirely single deck buses, four former First London and First South Yorkshire Presidents being the exception. Types operated are Pointer Darts, ADL Enviro 200's & 300's, Optare Versa's and Solo's, Wright Streetlites and Wright Eclipse Urban Volvo B7RLE's. There are supposed to be a few Marshall Darts still about but I saw none. Liveries are also varied with a fair mix of corporate livery, Cymru Clipper and wedge style liveries in Red, Orange, Yellow and Black. Training duties are provided by ALX300's.
Among my highlights were catching all four of the First Wright Streetcars which are still operational along with Ravenhill's five Enviro 200 MMC's. I was quite surprised to catch these considering they work Swansea University services and it was the Bank Holiday and a normal school holiday week. Streetcar 19030 is still in FTR livery despite reports to the contrary elsewhere and a trip to Ravenhill depot was necessary to catch 19036.
It was also nice to catch up with Ravenhill's former First Bradford quartet 69249 to 69252 which all now wear Cymru Clipper livery. All four Swansea Park & Ride buses were working as was 69304 which is the sole First B7RLE in Traws Cymru livery.
On the downside all four of First Cymru's heritage liveried Pointer Darts eluded me, I wasn't really expecting to see the bus stationed at Haverfordwest depot although I did catch three of this depot's Darts while visiting Tenby. I assume Ravenhill's Heritage Dart must have been working Llanelli services as it was not in sight in Swansea and carries Llanelli and District livery. I was more hopeful of catching the two buses at Port Talbot depot but despite two trips to Neath where Port Talbot depot buses provide most services they were not in sight, I didn't think I could get away with a trip to Port Talbot itself on a family holiday so left Wales heritage bus empty handed. Fortunately a stop at Worcester on the way home provided both Midland Red heritage buses so all was not lost.
In all I managed buses from each of First Cymru depots on visits to Swansea, Neath, Porthcawl and Tenby, all of which provided good spots for photographs of the bulk of services. Porthcawl also provided me with a couple of Stagecoach Wales buses too. Independent action is provided by South Wales Transport & N.A.T in Swansea, and Edwards & Taf Valley Coaches in Pembrokeshire.

I made it to Bradford & Keighley yesterday, Saturday September 23rd. All my trains were inevitably Northern, and as a majority of my buses were Transdev Keighley Bus I shall only name the company in other cases. I caught Stagecoach E400H to & from Manchester, and the rest of my itin was as follows:-
Trains Manchester Victoria - Hebden Bridge - Bradford Interchange - both class 158 614 Shipley - First Volvo B7TL-ALX400 32092 629 Smiddles Lane - TLC Solo 53907 ** 268a Bradford - Arriva MAX E400 1903 67 Keighley - Volvo B10BLE 1083 915 Keighley via Oxenhope & Hainworth - TLC Slimline Solo SR 91241 K10 Oakworth - mini Pointer 710 K7 Keighley - Versa 240 K2 Keighley via Guard House - Solo SR 157 708 Keighley via Barley Cote - TLC mini E200 13983 60 Saltaire - Volvo B7TL-President 2704 62 Keighley rail station - Volvo B7RLE-Eclipse 1814 Train Keighley - Bradford Forster Square - class 333 Train Bradford Interchange - Manchester Victoria - class 150/2
** As this bus had been on the Leeds City free bus service I think it still carried its former First fleet number.
I shall cover the significance of some of these buses under the operators' headings. However, a spookiness is that I aimed for (and did catch) the 18.14 train from Keighley to Bradford and was taken to Keighley station by bus 1814!

Having dropped snippets of info elsewhere on this forum, I shall clarify my full Leeds & Batley itin from today, Saturday June 23rd, here:-
192 Manchester - Stagecoach E400H 060 Leeds - National Express / Selwyns Caetano Levante
221 Batley - Arriva Eclipse 1112 120 Wakefield - Arriva E200 1014 444 Leeds - Arriva Max Volvo B5LH 1716 6 Horsforth - First StreetDeck 35291 50 Leeds - First Volvo B9TL 37723 7 Seacroft - Transdev Harrogate Eclipse 1862 11 Cross Gates - First StreetLite 47642 166 Leeds - Arriva Sapphire E400-MMC 1965 CityZap Manchester - Transdev Burnley Mainline Versa 264
192 Home - Stagecoach E400H
I advanced this trip from a provisional date of the August Bank Holiday. As August 2019 will be the 30th Anniversary of my first Leeds & Bradford break and the 20th Anniversary of my 2nd such break, I sincerely hope to return next August.

FWY 66709 on the 91 to Halton Moor FWY 47642 on the 5 to Leeds City Centre FWY 39201 on the 7A yo Moortown HBC 3614 on the 36 back to Harrogate Nothing too unusual about the buses on these routes. Cheers Andy A few are rareish even if standard on the routes in question. Examples are routes 254, X63 and also 97 being a 35500 not 35200 StreetDeck. There are number of 355xx StreetDecks with red fronts, so will be usually seen on Headingley Lane duties (1/6/28/97)
