Today the driver on 576 was totally confused on how to get out of Bradford city center. As I boarded, he randomly asked me if I could help direct him out of the city center. OK so I began to direct him standing at the front with him.
He was confused all around the Channing way/little Horton lane- up to the site of mecca bingo where he thought he was going straight up but should be turning right through the traffic lights on to Morley street. He also asked me if it went up great Horton road.
Well at first I thought I should be naughty and make him go along Great Horton road instead of Morley, so that I can get dropped off straight outside the uni ;D but I guided him up Morley street and he seemed fine with the rest of the route. I quickly guided him of his next turns ahead, before I got off.
I was wondering which idiot put a driver like that on the an unfamiliar route?
It was the first time it happened with me. Have any of you guys ended up with this sort of situation..?

A few years ago whilst on the school bus coming home from school I had to direct a newish driver. I had to do that a few times while at school, since I got off at the last stop.

Any regular bus user will have seen drivers who are not familiar with routes and/or going the wrong way. Probably newer drivers or ones who are asked to cover for staff shortage doing routes that they don't normally do.

The best one I have done was a 97 service to Bradford from Leeds and back. With been a Bramley driver I had no idea where it went after going past Horsforth’s old ball pub
I asked a couple of passengers and eventually found me way going through Yeadon, Gusieley and Shipley. Don't know if I went the right way though. Even better was when heading back to Leeds, No one got on the bus, So what do you do in this situation. I rang one of the traffic managers at Bramley. He told me to wait for another bus going towards the airport and follow it to Yeadon. Think it was A 737 service in fact.
By the time I got to Yeadon some passengers had got on and I asked for the directions again and managed to get back onto Otley Road somehow. I can tell you one thing. That afternoon shift was a bloody nightmare. Never again will I be doing the 97's for Kirkstall.

They only go as far as Guiseley now so maybe that will make it easier should they ever ask you to drive the 97 again! If you don't know that area you better just hope you never get given the 966...

The 97 service is actually one of the easiest routes out of kirkstall to do!!!
The 966 service is known by very few drivers and is an absolute nightmare to get covered if for some reason the driver doesn't turn in. (BTW It's one of the few kirkstall routes that I don't know)
