Why are Arriva only wanting the views of older passengers?

Cause they travel free (so no need to reimburse travel costs), travel a lot at various times of the day and tend to cover multiple routes over time plus as genuine passengers they have a different view than a company employee. A lot like a bus enthusiast just without the actual interest in buses.
I've often thought bus companies should use bus enthusiasts as quality checkers but the question is how many would travel enough on one operator to be useful without expecting it to become a paid job.

To keep the record straight - I am a 'mature' bus passenger some 6 years before being eligible for my bus pass!
