Yep you see one a day on the one route. They usually last around 3 or 4 return journeys before been taken back to the garage.
Must be an absolute pain for the managers. They have to allocate buses which is fine, but then drivers they need to allocate them to the right buses, because i have once had a driver turn up thinking he was getting a B9TL or something and a Arctic turned up. He couldn't drive it because he said he wasn't trained or something.

WHERE have all those arctics gone? First have kept the ones in better condition (which is very unusual for first) but they hardlly get used. They keep putting a mix of everything and anything on which is first all over. If you're referring to the original T/V reg batch then a quick walk around Hunslet Park will reveal the answer. Always at least half a dozen, sometimes more out of service with some fault or other. My own opinion which is denied by others is that these started to 'go downhill' a good few years ago when somebody at Kirkstall Road decided that the protective cover under the turntable wasn't needed and had them all removed and apparently threw them in the skip! If I remember rightly, this action was sufficient to invalidate the warranty that was provided by Volvo at the time. Who's right?

They're going to get brand new engines and gear boxes along with an interior refurbishment.

That is good then. One thing, all this money been spent on the engine/gear boxes etc, what about the actually outside the appearnce. Its all well and good spending the money on the interior but if the exterior still looks like they need scrapping its a waste of money.

Most bendy's will be parked up over the summer due to buses not being needed due to the 92/95 not running. Most are all ready for work with volvo working on some of the ex-York one's. They will all be back in service in September.

this morning have seen 30863 on hudds service 181, i assume this has transferred over now. does anyone know what, if any, buses these latest ALX400s have replaced? hudds certainly seems to have the biggest double decker fleet it has had for many years now.

What Kev means is the citybuses are being replaced and Royales moving to Halifax. If u read post before that says what have the ALX400s replaced.

I think Driver6540 is asking what buses have these 'latest' ALX400s 30863-30865 have replaced? We all know the Citybuses have gone and replaced by previously transfered ALX400s, but what's gone now?
The only thing makes sense to me is some royales being stored as a couple of you have mentioned/Transfered to Halifax OR otherwise replacing 2 of the 4 Volvo B7RLEs 66740-66743, as only 2 Wright Renowns joined the fleet from Bradford.

Well all the Leyland Olympians have gone with the Citybuses, all the Dennis Lance's have gone, 11 Dart's, 4 Eclipse Urban's and 30845 have gone to Halifax too so if you add all them up that's about 37 buses that have gone from Hudds within the last month or two which you wouldn't realise plus single deckers seem to be getting replaced by Double deckers.

sorry to have caused any confusion, as hfx says above i was referring to 30863-30865, from reading the fleetlist page i realise the citybuses were replaced by the initial batches of ALX400s 30846-854 & 30916-921 over a month ago now.

Anything happening at York this year.

I would probably say nothing. This year it was all to do with Leeds (which had a silly amount of Step Entrance Decker's) and they had to clean some routes up (Ie, X84, 56, 96). That was the first 6 months.
they then turned to there attention to the Calderdale and Huddersfield operations along with Bradford and replaced all Leylands with the massive influx of Olympians that were displaced by new B9TL's (Bradford got some new B7RLEs as well although i think they were late 08 and general objective of these were replacement buses on other routes.) at Hunslet Park along with bristol. Now i would say for the remaining 4 months of 2009 (scary), what is going to happen is first are going to sit back and watch because they don't want to commit to something before the end of September. This is because as with every September, hunslet park seems to have a shortage of vehicles (despite the massive amount of Olympians displaced this year), and with the arctics playing up, this year is going to be the worst year yet (unless like stated earlier that they will actually all come back to service beginning of September).
Anyway York, will probably get something early on 2010 (probably if the X64 is doing well B9TL but i wouldn't say thats defiant).
