Shearings have ordered 45 Setra triaxle coaches for delivery in April. They have also announced that they intend to resurrect the Wallace Arnold name.

Good to see them bringing back the Wallace Arnold name, hopefully with the classic livery.

I suppose a refreshed classic livery would be better for Wallace Arnold. Aren't some of the Setras for the National Holidays business as well? As far as I am aware they always get cascades from the main Shearings fleet.

15 for National Holidays, 12m. 30 for Shearings, 13.2m, 10 of those Grand Tourers. Don't know about WA livery.

Also the Setra will be a first for Shearings group as they have bought Jonckheeres, Vanhools and Plaxtons in the past.

Both WA and Shearings were dedicated Volvo users and both bought mixtures of bodies by any of the above. After several demonstrators were evaluated it was a toss up between Volvo and Setra. The new motors are primarily intended for continental work so Setra was chosen because the breakdown service on the continent is better for Setras than Volvo and the WA fitters have experience of Setras and Mercs as well as Volvo.

Got some photos yesterday (07-05-09) at photoshoot but I don't know how to put them here. Anyone any ideas? They're about 1.4Mb each.

Load the photo onto photobucket and copy and paste the code into the post so we can view it. Would probably be best if you make it a tad bit smaller if you can on photoshop or another editing package.

They certainly look impressive. Is the livery designed by Best Impressions as it does look like it.

I think the Shearings livery is impressive, but the Grand Tourer i'm not a fan of, it just looks drab i think.

I agree that the Grand Tourer is a bit drab and the National Holidays livery could do with a make-over I think. Shearings looks fine, but what has happened to the Wallace Arnold name I thought was to re-appear? The interior looks very comfortable, but is this for all coaches?
Great shots Bernard.

The WA in the name was dropped late last year. Dont know why but WA will be missed.
For some reason i think the Nat Hols livery looks good on the Setras although it does look poor on the Plaxtons.

If you look at the back view of the GT, the Shearings name occupies the offside half. The consensus at the photoshoot was that the nearside is where WA will go.

The WA in the name was dropped late last year. The original poster stated the WA name was returning in mid january. Who's right?

The WA in the name was dropped late last year. The original poster stated the WA name was returning in mid january. Who's right? This was also in BUSES Magazine a few months back saying Shearings was planning on Ressurecting the Wallace Arnold name very soon. Nothing happening so far!

Saw a National Hols one today on easterly road and i have to say the if the white livery stays white it is very smart.

Here's what I regard as the proper Wallace Arnold Grand Tourer. This was taken in Riva del Garda, Italy in August 2005. I saw the "cheaper" Shearings version in Siena, Italy last year. Didn't give it a second glance. I'm sure the fleet number, 762, is in an old Yorkshire Woollen style and doesn't suit this coach.

Don't know what it is about the Grand Tourers, I mean if you look at the likes of Ellisons & Hallmark, their team coaches look so much better than this. They should paint the whole thing black/dark grey and have Grand Tourer in Gold/Sivler lettering. I remember when the GT was launched and there was a big do and that people on the GT didn't know about it until they boarded. Whats great about a smartened up Jonckheere? Personally i think the Setra's of todays GT era are better but i think the Neoplans are the future for this brand, although i doubt it'll ever happen.
