This Scania single decker sounds very different to the rest. It seems to have an underpowered engine from an older scania, underpowered when it comes to first gear only by the way. When changing from 2nd to 1st or in 1st to start with the power just fades out dramatically! It took 5 seconds to turn a corner on the cardinal estate!

61083 has as engine taken from a withdrawn Black Prince Scania double deck. Not sure which one but it was one of a couple that were sold to a scrap dealer a while back minus their engines, think 36924 (the Anchor butter allover ad) was one of them.
Performance shouldn`t be any different as the Scania N113CRB (single deck) and N113DRB (double deck) use the same Scania DS11 engine rated at 257 hp although this particular engine will of course be 3/4 years older than the bus.
Any underperformance is probably related to either the engine not being in tip top condition or a poor installation job.

Yes it did, well spotted. I was just making sure everyone's awake!
I was going from memory and of course 36924 went to Glasgow at least a year ago. I've checked the records and 61083 has an engine taken from one of 36925,935,936,938,950,951 all of which went to PVS breakers at Barnsley about 2/3 months ago.

Surely there isn't a reason for 61083 to be sluggish, i mean BPs deckers used to be flyers. Unless the mechanic did a poor job on it or it wasn't refurbed (to an extent) before it went in.
