Services to/from Skipton, including the Keighley and x84 services, will not be able to use the bus station due to it's up and coming re-development. The X84 has a new terminus on what looks like a side road! The Keighley services may have to use the roundabout at the bottom of the High Street to turn around back onto Keighley Road to their terminus. This looks like good fun! For more details see the North Yorkshire County Council web site.

How is the 84 going to spin around in Skipton. I would imagine it will use the rounabout at the bottom of the high street.

There is a link to the changes via Metro's website. The X84 will terminate at the end of Sackville Street, close to its junction with Keighley Road (near the canal bridge and Eastwood's Fish Restaurant).
The X59 to Harrogate will start from outside the library and the 280/X80 for Preston will commence from Swadford Street, outside what used to be the Co-op department store.

My guess is that it will come along Brougham Street (instead of going to High Street;(that won't be so nice at school times, as it will have to pass the primary school there and at that point the road narrows slightly), then down Westmoreland Street and then a right turn onto Sackville Street. The return journey will be from Sackville Street, right onto Keighley Road and then its normal journey on High street.

Maybe the person responsible for designing the leaflet was from the continent hence the arrows being wrong way around!
I take it Transdev will be running the bus station on behalf of NYCC and Craven District Council?

It didn't happen!
The bus station in Skipton is NOT yet in use, although around 0710 a Pennine bus picked up passengers there! There is a sign on the approach - "No entry except for access". Isn't that all that buses need - access? There are still workmen around (wearing their hard hats of course!).
The new public car park next door IS in use.

I was told today that the new Skipton bus station will open next Monday the 12th, subject of course, to all work being completed.
I also learned that operators were aware that work would not be quite complete by the 5th and were going to use the bus station anyway. Somebody obviously made someone see sense and so it was back to on-street stops for a week (perhaps).

According to local radio today, the bus station will now open on Monday 19th January. It seems this is to ensure that all remedial work has time to be completed.
I think this date for opening makes it about a month late.

The new bus station finally opened today. I had a quick look, but due to the bad weather I didn't stay too long. Not sure if is quite finished yet so I will take a look later. See my photograph of K&D 1848 in the Gallery.

Yes, from the photo, there still appears to be temporary barriers in place at the back of the reversing area! How could such a relatively small project get delayed and be riddled with problems!

Jack the temporary safety barriers are all around the bus station. The covered area is really only a narrow walkway with seats along the edge away from where buses are boarded. Not sure if the departure details stuck on the windows are the finished item or not. All in all it is just a simple waiting area, all glass and no comfort in my opinion.
