Yesterday I saw Volvo Olympian Northern Counties S59VNM(?) in Keighley, however noticed it has been re-numbered to 989 from 959. Then this afternoon I noticed Leyland Olympian H145GGS, which is now numbered 975 (used to be 945.)
I was just wondering if anyone knew why K&D are renumbering as it seems unusual to do this?

I have never noticed that and I live in Keighley too! It probably has something to do with the new buses coming in.
You are lucky to see H145/6GGS, I have never seen these bus often. The only ones I see often are H141/7GGS.

Well the S--VNM batch of Volvo Olympians were originally 29** and were renumbered once in service at Keighley & District.
I'm surprised that the Wright Eclipse Urbans that were cascaded from Coastliner were not renumbered once at their new homes.
Back to topic, will this renumbering scheme be perhaps something to do with looming acquisition of Veolia's York operations that will make the Transdev York business with Top Line Travel?

The re-numbering could be linked to Trandev's acquisition of the Veolia business, however I didn't think Transdev had a corporate numbering system like First and Stagecoach.
However, today I saw Volvo Olympian 963 (S63VNM) for the first time, although I was surprised it wasn't numbered 983 in line with the rest of the batch.

S63 VNM looks a little different at the front do you think?

The re-numbering of the Olympians is to eliminate duplication of fleet numbers within the group. The 94x series of Olympians clashed with the Harrogate & Dist school bus Dennis Javelins.

Thanks pub146g, I thought they must be a reason, this would explain it. Are Transdev Blazefield going to re-number their fleet then so fleet numbers aren't duplicated?
Slightly off topic, does anyone know why some K&D drivers now wear an ID badge round their necks saying Transdev Blazefield?
I hadn't noticed the front of 963, iluvmilian, but will take note next time!

Most of the Blazefield fleet is not duplicated hence the limited renumbering at Keighley - for some time fleet wide numbers have been used except at Keighley where they have renumbered vehicles (ie 2963 to 963) when they have acquired them

What happened to the R-reg B10's? Did they stay within Transdev or were they sold? Personally I prefer the B7's especially the new ones (1843-1850) they are really comfy and I prefer the interiors to the 662-branded ones.
It seems strange that Keighley re-number their fleet whereas the other company's don't.
