Sounds like the 317 will be simply absorbed into the 262, makes sense in a way i suppose.

the 317A was withdrawn a while ago as far as i know as first withdrew their 317 service so Kline withdrew then restarted the service with the number 317.

Aye, but K-Line don't have a 317 on their list of registered routes at the VOSA, they only have the 317A regstered, well they did until yesterday following its cancellation.

Wasn't the 317a started by K line when Pauls Travel went out of business, or am i thinking of another service ending with A?

K Line didn't pick up any of Paul's Travel commercial network when they had their license revoked by VOSA.
K Line had picked up the 368 contract to Almondbury which Paul's Travel had won off Stagecoach.
Yes, it is the 317 that runs to Kirkheaton now, not the 317A. Probably still shows as the 317A on the VOSA website because of their records.
So if the 262 is getting diverted into the Kirkheaton estate to replace the withdrawn 317(A). Will the tendered evenings and Sundays be doing so as well operated by Arriva? If so, then the 371 will no longer be required to extend out to Kirkheaton.

I doubt there would be any changes to tendered services as these are operated by Arriva (262) and First (371) rather than K-Line (317A) and Huddersfield Bus Co

It had occurred to me that the 317A and 262 moves might be connected, would have said it makes sense
Also up today- Service 80/8182- Timetable amendment

Couple of things i've picked up:
Service 97 is still shown by Vosa as running between Leeds and Bradford Interchange,
First are amending the routes of Services 617, 657-9, 670, 680 and 810 and stopping places on the 508. Any ideas what and why?
and is it normal for there to be so many alterations to school services timetables ahead of the new school year?

PART ANSWER TO ABOVE. 97 originally registered as to BRADFORD but service hasn't been cancelled . Changes are AUGUST so should be publishied soon. 670 is to divert via barkerend and killinghall road [part cover 601] 680 is to operate through to smiddles lane on an hourly basis with other journeys prob? BRADFORD - heaton so the rote change could be to do with turning arrangements [the old 79 did a u but not now]

Any ideas what and why? 657to 9- Simpler network probably with the 657 been withdrawn as it only runs one or two journeys in a day. 656 will probably turn into the 658 and the 659 will be the sunday and eveing service.

I think what is meant by "stopping places" is the timing points on the timetables. So the timing points on these routes are being changed.

I have always interpreted "stopping places" in this context to indicate which bus stops the route will actually serve, as a required part of a service registration.

still can not understand why there are reducing the 680 to just one a hour!! should be every 20mintues in my opinion its always busy and gives the old buses a good run out!! and sometimes you see a B...rwy olympian on it..no chance NOW!!

This post has got rather messy, it is for September changes but seems to now be a duplicate discussion of the upcoming August changes. Therefore these following replies are all in relation to August not September changes!
The 680 is being reduced to hourly (between Heaton and Smiddles Lane) because Metro can't justify paying for it to continue as a half-hourly service.
In relation to the earlier post, the route changes on the 679/810 must be the previously discussed move of the Hirst Wood terminus slightly back to Dallam Avenue due to "health and safety concerns".
I hadn't realised the 617/618 was also due in for a change of route - would this be changes around Holme Wood in association with the 606/607 mystery..?

Sorry to get even further off topic, but I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen the last of the Roe/Optare's now anyway. Doubt they will return when the schools go back.

August service changes can be conveniently discussed in August Service Changes thread found under Bus Routes sub-board.
