K-Line have borrowed Huddersfield Bus Company East Lancs Sprytes V502/6EFR both of which were seen on service 241 to Lepton. Both vehicles had "Bus on hire to K-Line" shown on the destinations.
Is there any known reason for the borrowings?

...well the reason for this is because Honley are short staffed at the moment with a few staff on holiday. So the buses were working from Waterloo depot with Huddersfield Bus Company drivers at the wheel.

That is one advantage of having two operations run by the same company. Being able to swap and change buses around at short or long term notice.
Don’t think the passengers would be happy in getting a Sprite in place of the normal Centro.
