This question got me thinking, after wondering why West Yorkshire has got such long bus stop names. I think it is Great Preston Whitehouse Lane Whitehouse Avenue, but I'm unsure It depends where you're getting the name from. In the NAPTAN database, the longest stop names in West Yorkshire are 41 characters long Brighouse & Denholme Gate Road Halifax Rd 45015492 Turnsteads Avenue Whitcliffe Mount School 45015493 Whitcliffe Mount School Turnsteads Avenue 45025823 South Accommodation Rd Donisthorpe Street 45023374 Slaithwaite Railway Station Crimble Drive 45014969
The one you mentioned is in NAPTAN as Whitehouse Ln Whitehouse Ave at 28 characters long (45010144). If you want to include "Great Preston" as part of the stop name (it's in NAPTAN as the locality), yours comes in at 42 characters and the longest are: Wakefield City Centre College Grove Rd Back Hatfield Street (59) 45032296 Bradford City Centre Bradford Forster Square Rail Station (57) - 2 stops with this name 45059004 and 45059005
The shortest stop name is Bar 45015439

This question got me thinking, after wondering why West Yorkshire has got such long bus stop names. I think it is Great Preston Whitehouse Lane Whitehouse Avenue, but I'm unsure so the Great Preston is the area where the stop is. If you look at most bus stop flags they are usually the names of the two nearest roads.
