Hello,
Anyone got the simulator city bus manager? If so are they enjoying it?
Anyway the reason for the thread was not to discuss that was to discuss the 61, 61B, 61C and 62, 62B and 62C of yesteryear. I'm trying to recreate this routes around inner city Leeds but cannot for the life of me remember where they went.
I know that they served LGI (I'm sure they did), then through Little London (Blackman Lane, Leicester Place etc), then over to Chapletown but I cannot remember how they got there. Did they serve St James' hospital? I would have imagined so.
Where did they start/finish - I imagine been circular, 61 would start where the 62 terminated and vice versa.
And why the B/C variation?

Depends how far you go back, the 61 and 62 pre-deregulation from the mid 70s (about 1974?) up until the early 80s ran as circular services in the following way. The 61 went from The Headrow up through Woodhouse near the University and then down through Little London to Sheepscar, then over by the bottom of Scott Hall, through Chapletown (Spencer Place etc) then up Bayswater Road to Harehills Road. At one point it went 2 different ways at this point (via Ashley Road, Harehills Lane to Lupton Ave for a short while and for a long time via Stanley Road and Hudson Road to Lupton Ave) then from Lupton Ave it went down to York Road, then under that to Ivy Street, through East End Park and Richmond Hill to Easy Road, then down South Accommodation Road, along Hunslet Road, up Crown Point Road and back to Leeds Eastgate and The Headrow. The 62 always went the other way round to the 61 except it went over Black Bull Street instead of Crown Point Road. During this period, both services ran really frequently (at one point up to every 10 mins daytime, 20 mins eve/Sun) and both replaced a similar version of themselves pre-1974, the previous version running more direct to Leeds down East Street from Easy Road and accompanied by 2 similar circular routes in the area.
Then at some point in the early 80s, the 61 diverted left at South Accommodation Road to serve Hunslet Centre, Tunstall Road, Dewsbury Road, Cemetery Road and through Holbeck to Leeds via the current 75 route with a diversion via Brown Lane loop terminating at Infirmary Street, the 62 obviously doing the opposite. Buses in a Yellow and Green scheme were used with a max fare of 20p and a 20 minute frequency all day every day. Note - 61/B/C and 62/B/C followed this route more or less, see below.
From 1986 ish, things got messy. The 61 and 62 got chopped and changed shortly after deregulation, you had a version that ran the route described above, but additionally serving St James's and routed via Cross Green Lane and East Street to Leeds instead of Richmond Hill/Easy Road, then at some point in the early 90s there was the 61/B/C 62/B/C versions you are looking for info on which were basically a version of the early to mid 80s route described above with the core 61/62 ommiting Brown Lane and both only running half hourly Mon to Sat daytime. The 61B and 62B served Brown Lane with both only running eve/Sun (daytime Brown Lane was served by other services such as the CB2) and the 61C/62C served Cross Green Lane and the Industrial Estate, again running evenings/Sundays only. The only 2 reasons why the C version served Cross Green was to provide an evening/Sunday service to the Industrial Estate in place of many many different services that served the estate during the day (26, 27, 63 etc), and for the Car Boot Sale down there. These buses did miss that section out a lot however, instead running via the core 61/2 route.
Trust me, you'd be lost looking into it all lol.

Oh wow. This game looks excellent. Just what I’ve wanted for years. And it seems it’s available for Mac too.

Just to say I’ve sunk hours into this game since I saw this thread. I’m working on recreating the current Bradford bus network in the game and it’s a great way to relax. Highly recommended!
