Kirklees Council have funded the extension of the 95 into West Yorkshire to loop around Denby Dale, Skelmanthorpe and Clayton West. Funnily enough, the service is already going to be advertised on a "use it or lose it" basis.
Here are the fares that will be offered on the service:
From anywhere on service 95 to points between Kexborough and Barnsley – £2.00 Adult Single £3.40 Adult Return
Any journey on the loop between Clayton West, Scissett, Skelmanthorpe, Denby Dale, Scissett and Clayton West – £1.00 Adult Single £1.70 Adult Return
Children travel for half the adult fares above. Offer available for a limited period only.
Barnsley Megarider Plus-Holders of the Barnsley Megarider Plus ticket may also travel throughout the route of Service 95. One week’s travel costs £10 and one day’s travel £4. Fares correct as at 19 July 2008.

It seems the initial funding is for 6 months
Holmfirth minibuses H8 and H9 and Colne Valley taxibus 907 have also been put on a 6 month Use it or Lose it basis
Hopefully passengers will respond by using these services and they will continue after January

There seems to be moaning in the press of Metro taking this "use it or lose it" stance, but I think it is perfectly reasonable. Often, the people who bemoan the removal of a service never actually use it but just like the idea of it being there. This way Metro or whoever can justify taking off a service that nobody is actually using. After all, why should Metro waste taxpayers' money to send environmentally polluting buses out to places where no-one will use them?
