Rather than attach this to any specific service change period, I thought I'd start a new thread due to launch dates being spread throughout the Spring/Summer. Service 822 from Pocklington via York and Ripon to Pateley Bridge and Grassington will start on May 7th, no timetable available yet. One of the most infrequent services going, service 825, will launch in June running just once a month each way, so god help those who miss it lol! www.dalesbus.org/825.html

It also appears that the KLCH routes – Preston/Lancaster to Richmond via Hawes, and Lancaster to Malham via Settle – have disappeared from the programme, and no indication that KLCH will be running any Sunday service on the 580/581, which is all rather disappointing. Although there is the very good hourly service between Lancaster and Kirkby Lonsdale, that doesn't do a lot for getting people into the Dales when there are no onward connections from there.

I think it was a similar story last year, with the Kirkby Lonsdale buses (other than Craven Connection) starting later in the summer than others and no mention online until a few weeks beforehand, so it maybe a case of discussions still taking place or the timetable still being worked on or something hence no mention on the website.

The 830 & 831 (and usually the 881) generally start mid May. Curiously with the KLCH 830, I noticed recently that Preston was removed from the route description (so starting from Lancaster) then disappeared from the list of summer services not long after (although the 830 page is still there if you click links on other pages on the site). As far as I'm aware, Arriva North East are doing the 831 again this year.
Pretty much all mentions of the 881 have disappeared from the DalesBus site.
580/581 didn't run Sundays last year, presumably the numbers in 2021 when I believe KLCH ran it fully commercially weren't there, was dead when I did it from Kirkby Lonsdale and Skipton.

No news yet on the 821 which goes to scar house reservoir from Keighley via Otley and Pateley Bridge. The last few years it has been run by Keighley Bus Company (KBC).
I would assume it's just not been announced yet as last year it was announced to start at the beginning of May rather than April, and was only announced by KBC at the end of April.

I wonder if it's just to clarify that the short run to Otley takes a different route.

The 830 from the North West to Hawes & Richmond will not operate in 2023 as a result of the withdrawal of the connection with the DalesRail service from Northern at Ribblehead: lancsbus.blogspot.com/2023/04/no-dales-bus-services-from-lancaster-in.html?spref=fb&m=1Also states 881 was withdrawn owing to low passenger numbers. Meanwhile, Arriva North East have registered their offering for 2023 starting from June 4th, will seemingly run as 831 Middlesbrough to Hawes then as 832 to Kirkby Lonsdale.

Another new development is the reintroduction of a seasonal Sunday service between Garsdale and Hawes and then continuing to Castle Bolton (presumably via Askrigg) – great to see this side of the valley getting a Sunday service, slightly surprised it doesn't serve Redmire for the Wensleydale Railway as well – but no timetable or start date yet.

I wonder if they might introduce it later on in the year if Northern reintroduces DalesRail as I've seen in a few articles that they are trying to find a way to reintroduce it. One of the main reasons DalesRail was allegedly removed was due to a lack of Sunday overtime drivers, according to one of the news articles I read. On a different note, this year's 821 and 875 timetables have been updated on the bus stops as of a week or so ago. I saw one which said "as of 10/04/2023" meaning it must've been changed relatively quickly after that date as I saw it on the 16th. Not too sure if it's been updated everywhere yet though of course.

Castle Bolton was previously served on the DalesBus network by service 857 a few year back running off the Arriva 830 between Hawes, Leyburn then went to Masham one year then went to Richmond the next (Masham instead being served by an extended 859 from Richmond originating from Preston as 830). I wonder if they might introduce it later on in the year if Northern reintroduces DalesRail as I've seen in a few articles that they are trying to find a way to reintroduce it. I doubt even if DalesRail were to be saved to run at some stage this summer, it's likely to be too late to still provide the 830 bus owing to planning and securing methods of funding to actually run the services.

Reliances York-Grassington service found itself without an available stand at Harrogate this morning. There was an anonymous plain white single decker blocking stand 1 leading to the Reliance vehicle stopping to unload and load at the exit from the bus station, so blocking the exit. Suppose it could have been a MoD vehicle, definately not the Enviro 200, but exceptionally unusual for one to be in the bus station as they stop if neccessary on the road beyond.

Stand 1 isn't used at Harrogate bus station anymore. Ever since the equipment was installed to charge the battery buses, there is insufficient space to reverse from it. The stand usually has a car parked in it that belongs to the staff member in the information kiosk next to Stand 1.
The anonymous white bus is a regular site in Harrogate. It is provided by an employer to take their employees to and from work.

It is provided by an employer to take their employees to and from work. As I noted white buses are in Harrogate are normally MoD vehicles but do not normally use the bus station. There is no issue in using stand 1 caused by the EV equipment. Stands 3 to 5 are the ones equipped with the overhead charging equipment and this flickr photo shows the sole issue to a vehicle reversing out of stand 1, as with the other stands, is a vehicle parked against the back wall www.flickr.com/photos/167728647@N08/53290676412And this photo of a 74 leaving also shows the overflow santuary if needed of stand 1 could not have been used that day as one of Transdevs Gemini 2s was occupying it. www.flickr.com/photos/6228_leeds/52122175568 The 74 was nearly 10 miniutes late yesterday arriving which probably explained the lack of a stand - it presumably got caught in a lengthy tailback from Starbeck level crossing taking 9 1/2 minutes to cover a booked 3 minute journey.
