Can’t believe this is happening. What about those people who travel from Moor Allerton to Morley ?? So I now have to catch 2 buses and add more time onto my travel . I’m a shift worker also, so start at 7:30am some days and finish at 9:30pm others. I now have to wait in town at night on my own. I may have to leave my job because of this. My Anxiety is through the roof . Exactly the reason we need more interchanges. Having a comfortable, safe, and climate controlled place to wait should be necessary. Companies that dump their bus routes on random streets set themselves up for failure.

I've just seen the timetable for the new 51/2 and to be totally blunt it's shocking beyond belief in the morning peak. A near half hour gap twice during the morning peak to Leeds! Saturday mornings is a joke too with the 51 and 52 running close together towards Leeds early on. Very early last bus back from Leeds compared to now as well.

Run it into the ground and then withdraw it due to 'low patronage'. First's speciality.

They need to stop cost cutting on routes which are quite obviously profitable.

I've had my suspicions since they announced this split, that there was some ulterior motive.
I do not believe for a second that the 51/52 is somehow more susceptible to traffic than every other cross city route in Leeds. Nor do I believe that splitting it uses fewer drivers. By definition, you are doing more miles to go down Eastgate and turn round plus extra terminus waiting time for both services.
The proof of the pudding will be in the eating, but I suspect we will see a divergence in the timetables and overall quality of the two routes, with Morley paying the price.
For years the 51/52 have been treated as a joke by Bramley, always the worst buses. We only grudgingly got low floor buses when DDA kicked in, years after all their other core routes. "Missing a decker? Stick that single on Morley. Who cares!"
When First were (wrongly IMHO) allowed to buy Black Prince they promised the moon, number of buses would stay the same, etc. Nonsense.
Time was 51 was a 15 minute service, 52 the same. 7/8 minute service. Now? In theory 15 minutes between them. Heaven knows from Sunday.
Last bus to Morley from Leeds on a Saturday, the night when town is the most busy? 22:13. Pathetic.

Unless my eyes are deceiving me, the last bus to Moor Allerton (38/39) on a Saturday night is 21:10. Twenty-one-ten. Ten-past-nine. Or 2 hours and 12 minutes earlier than the current last journey on the timetable.
21:10 Twenty-one-ten Ten-past-nine. Sat-ur-day-night
Hahahahahahaha.

I Agree the Morley lot of routes have always been the poor siblings on the Leeds city network. Going off the new timetables the gaps during morning peak M-Fri looks to due to both increased running time (in fact it goes up & down rather randomly all day) plus using 1 less vehicle (morning school route?),also now it's running only between Morley & Leeds is there a need for 2 route numbers as don't they run the same route from Morley Town Hall into Leeds? BIB - If you include Arriva, the last bus from Leeds to Morley is 22:54 (201). Sat-ur-day-night Hahahahahahaha. The last 39 is at 21:10 then there's a 38 at 22:17,so not as bad but still not good Wonder if any of the other corridors in Leeds (or even Bradford) will see similar 'proposals'

Ahh, the timetable on Metro's website is totally wrong then as it shows the last 38 as being at 20:30. 22:17 is still not great though.

Which of course reminds me that that was another downgrade by first, as both buses originally did the full route. Re: the Arriva bus, not much help if (like me) you live in Churwell. In the past I have had to resort to using the last 229 from Leeds on a Saturday night followed by a horrible walk from St Bernards mill up Rooms Lane in the dark, when I've missed the 22:43 (apologies I said 23:13 earlier) 52 and the Uber surge pricing is off the charts. There is no justification for the bus to end earlier on Saturday than the other six days of the week. More First nonsense.

First 38 bus on a Sunday from Moor Allerton is now 08:34 and with having to change bus In town it could be 9:30am before I get to work. Work are not going to let me be nearly 2 hours late . They have been very reasonable over the years with missed buses, but I’ve never been this late. It’s either a taxi or I leave. Gutted

Gutted Could be a fault with which ever timetable you've looked at because the first bus on a Sunday is earlier, from Morley it's at 06.50am connecting with a 39 at 07.30 in town

Thanks Joseph . I was looking on the First bus app and clicking the later times part. I can only catch a 38 though
