I heard on the radio that a bus had been in collison with a car, causing the A58 (Whitehall Road) to be closed earlier this morning. Anyone know which bus was involved. Is Geldards garage up that way? Or could it be an Arriva 254 service?

After checking on the BBC website where the accident is, (Between Outer Ring Road & Lawns Lane), it could be either an Arriva (Any route), First (63) or Geldards vehicle, as they all operate on that section of the road.

According to reports the bus was out of service and running in the from Leeds direction. This would suggest it was a First Leeds bus possibly going to pick up a 63 service

If it was out of service, the 63 wouldn't be running private along the A58 to Drighlington, it would either use the M621 of the A62. Therefore I suspect it may have been a Geldards running out private from their yard to do a school service.

Ooh looks quite nasty! Imagine this one will be out of action for a while meaning another single decker on the 202/203, more likely a Dennis Dart. On the topic does anybody know how long the T-plate Optare Specras were at Dewsbury depot before the Lowlanders arrived? I seem to think they arrived around 2003/2004 time but not sure.

Didn't they move over after the 110 got the low floor Spectras?

I thought the same but I didn't think they'd been at Dewsbury since 2002. I know they made a return to Belle Isle once the Lowlanders entered service. I expect the Spectras will be receiving Interurban Livery in the near future, it's hard to believe they're nearly ten years old! I even remember the first day they entered service in May 1999!

I remember when they entered service too. It was when I first started at Arriva Yorkshire..!

Great buses in my opinion! The only other company I've seen operating the Spectras is Eastbourne Buses in Sussex.

Reading Buses still have a relatively decent sized fleet of Optare Spectras in operation.

Just been searching and National Express West Midlands have a good size batch of 21 Spectras as well.
