Does anybody know why the 425/7 have a one way section just before East Bireley? I can't fathom out why it's not both ways on that section as it would make sense.

A few years ago the Tong Cemetery stop (towards Bradford) was not served by the ex West Riding 425 group of services after junction alterations moved the stop back onto Bradford Road. So the services were re-routed via North View Road in order to serve the end section of Bradford Road, this was of course needed after all the ex-YWD services were diverted away from Tong Cemetery via East Bierley village. The time penalty towards Bradford wasn't much, but in the other direction crossing the A650 twice was probably considered more of a time penalty.

The sole reason for the route change was an attempt to save time. Traffic was persistently queuing back up Westgate Hill so it was decided it may be quicker to divert on to Heckmondwike Road. In reality it’s probably six of one and half a dozen of the other. It was nothing whatsoever to do with serving the Tong Cemetery stop.

Erm... I've stood at that bus stop in the past when there was a choice of services coming up Bradford Road and the 425 etc didn't stop there as it wasn't convenient to stop there. So now there are no buses that serve the stop at all, this is the main stop for the area. Is that what you're saying, they should keep the stop, but have no buses stop there?

I am saying nothing of the sort. I am simply explaining why the service was rerouted originally. The stop was not taken into consideration. Purely and simply a timing exercise.
