The 'sightseeingbus.co.uk' website states that they operate a tour of Leeds. Their Twitter bio also states they operate in Leeds, albeit it says 'not operating in 2021'. As far as I'm aware the last and only tour was operated by Transdev York on behalf of CitySightseeing. www.sightseeingbus.co.uk/

May be mistaken but isn't the 5 meant to be the sightseeing route in Leeds? I feel like they won't bother replacing it because it has cool electric vehicles

I feel like they won't bother replacing it because it has cool electric vehicles I believe it is, it goes past all the delights such as the dental hospital and drug addicts up Halton Moor, as well as gives you time for a photo opportunity on that really scenic street called Albion Street with time for a quick drink at that restaurant (massive lol, can't believe they call themselves a restaurant) called Mc Donalds. In all seriousness however, the only 2 reasons why people come to Leeds is to get so drunk they throw up everywhere and land in hospital, or to waste hard earned money on bits of cloth that a child made somewhere abroad for 10p so not surprised it wasn't a success.

Another reasons people come to leeds are to attend sporting fixtures & music concerts

As funny as this comment is, it is also very true. The 5 is a shuttle used for people to travel around Leeds easier, not a Sightseeing tour provided for tourists to get a good view of the cities landscapes.

The sightseeing route was done as a pilot to see if it would work. It was run by Transdev York.

The thing what would work with a sightseeing bus is one which visited all the major locations/attractions throughout the city like the Leeds Discovery Bus used to do years ago. You could have 2 routes covering the North/West and South/East of the city running twice a day every weekend and certian school holidays on each route to allow a stop off at one location.
One bus could run from town out to Middleton Railway, Thwaite Mills, then via the motorway up to Temple Newsam and from there up to Lotherton Hall. The other bus could run from town via Harewood, Arthington then up through Werdley and Eccup Moor Road (which can take big buses) turning at the end using the access road to Herd Farm where passengers can be dropped off close to the reservoir. This section of road is private, but access is granted by Yorkshire Water to those with business down that way, e.g. homes and farms etc, and should the gate be in use (which it hasn't for many years) then I'm sure YW will allow buses access with advanced agreement as they'll be bringing in visitors to the reservoir. From Eccup, the route would then return on itself to 5 lane ends and from there run through the edge of Adel and on to Holt Park then use the back roads to drop down through Otley Chevin to Otley, carrying on from there along the A660 and A658 to Yeadon (for the Tarn) terminating at the town hall.

Odd that Huddersfield and Wakefield still have them, but there's no money in Leeds or Bradford.

In Bradford, it was not because of the money it was due to the fact that LOT (Ladies Only Travel - A bus company only hiring female drivers) went bust and nobody else was willing to run the service.

In Bradford, it was not because of the money it was due to the fact that LOT (Ladies Only Travel - A bus company only hiring female drivers) went bust and nobody else was willing to run the service. That was only after Bradford council pulled the funding and LOT ran it commercially And yes when they started out as a taxi firm they only employed women drives, but when they expanded as a bus operator they employ male and female drivers.

I know someone who drove for them and he was a bloke? They had two blokes manning a transit van as it pulled into Leeds Bus Station one Sunday evening about 7 years ago on a (usually Arriva operated) tendered run they did. I still remember the look on the faces of the Metro bus station supervisors as it pulled onto the stand. Hahaha.

There was going to be a Leeds Sightseeing bus about 4 years ago, operated by a company known very well to me. However, from memory, even though garaging for the vehicles had been arranged, and all their fleets buses destis programmed for Sightseeing Leeds, it was put on the back burner about 12 months before Covid. The same company did operate a Birmingham tour for 1 year, which was curtailed due to the tram extension works, do operate the Manchester tour, and apparently have applied for a London Sightseeing licence. So, don't be surprised if they reappear!!!!!!!

We did have a sightseeing tour of Keighley for 3 years. It was very interesting and changed each year.
