Just thought I'd start a thread for everyone to list examples of places individually, or linked together that have seen massive improvements to service provision in recent times.
I've been looking at some of the old timetables for various parts of West Yorkshire on timetable world and have noticed a few places that have seen a dramatic increase in service levels compared to say 30 plus years ago. One of those places is Bramhope village itself. The main road has always seen a good level of service, but it's only been in the past 20 years where the actual main village has seen a regular bus service in the shape of the 940. This has surprised me quite a bit as I'd have thought the main village bit would have always seen some level of daily service, bearing in mind how uphill it is from the main road and how far some of the outer parts are from it such as the area around Moorlands Lane. As a further note, in even more recent times the area around None Go Bye farm and the caravan park has seen what looks to be it's first ever bus service with the 940 diverting that way every 2 hours.
It looks as well like the link between Otley and Wetherby didn't exist until fairly recent times with the creation of the 923, which has been a big success despite all substantial residential parts of it's route having some form of daily bus service to somewhere, e.g. the stretch from Pool to Harewood has always had some form of daily bus service, such as the 781, and East Keswick to Wetherby having all manor of bus services over the years, the bit from Harewood to the edge of East Keswick not seeing much in the way of housing.

The Ilkley - Keighley service has improved - I used to catch it in the early 90s when it ran only hourly, with a 90 minute gap mid-afternoon (which seemed to be often when I wanted to travel between the two). Keighley - Silsden was 3-4 buses an hour and Ilkley - Addingham was roughly half hourly with the X84/784.
Now Keighley - Silsden is 3 buses an hour (one via Airedale Hospital) but they continue half hourly to Ilkley, with Addingham to Ilkley now having 3bph.
The hourly service between Keighley and Ilkley seems to have been constant for many years.
Burnley - Crosshills is now half hourly, the frequency having doubled around 7 years ago (between Crosshills and Keighley it replaced Keighley buses' 78A - now a shorter less frequent service run by NYCC). The Burnley - Keighley route also now runs in the evening around 4 hours later than it did then. If you go back a *long* way this route was half hourly on a Saturday and had a much later service from Burnley than it does now but was still only hourly during the week.
Sadly most of the areas I'm familiar with have seen drops in bus provision - I could give an essay on those!

Addingham to Ilkley has been 3bph since the 62 (or 762/765) went half hourly as the X84 ran hourly to Skipton until cut back to be the 784 then given to Transdev.
Draughton has an improved service, with the Sunday Cravenlink service diverted to serve the village, rather than sticking to the A65.
Embsay could also be said to have an improved service, with the Saturday 74 routed that way between Ilkley and Grassington to avoid the Bolton Abbey arch, meaning not only a Saturday link to Ilkley (along with the Sunday Dalesbus service) but also a direct link to Grassington.
Weston and Newall now have links across Otley to Menston Mon-Sat daytime.
Obviously, Otley and Pool have better links to Shipley and Bradford since Transdev extended the A3, meaning more than just one journey a day at something like 6.30 am!
Transdev upping the 500 (now B3) to hourly was a huge improvement. Previously, it was IIRC about 5 journeys a day and nothing on Sundays.

Yes, as I said, I'm talking about the changes from when the 762/765 went half hourly on the whole route. Back then the evening/Sunday journeys to Skipton were 784s. Though Otley and Pool used to have the hourly 653 to Bradford as well as an hourly service from Pool to Bradford via Yeadon - the service from Bradford to Otley was better than hourly when I used to travel in the late nineties and early 2000s, with the last bus after 2300 in both directions The 500 was, for many years, 4 journeys a day on Wednesdays and Saturdays between Todmorden and Keighley, daily in Summer (including Sundays). We've talked about it in some detail at travelwestyorks.proboards.com/thread/5757/500-keighley-todmorden

There have been many changes through the years in Bradford, won’t mention the discontinued or the ones that are largely unchanged.
New links include: from Four Lane Ends to Eldwick (615/616/619) and daytime to Shipley (629).
More buses on X6 (also 72).
The 680 daytime runs through to Bingley. The 268 runs through to Wakefield most trips.
Going back a few years, the Wyke village routes were extended through to Hove Edge (now 686/688) and Scholes (now 687).
In Keighley, apart from the routes mentioned, Dalton Lane has a regular bus (the 60).
That's about it though.

In Keighley, apart from the routes mentioned, Dalton Lane has a regular bus (the 60). As someone who goes to Dalton Lane around 3 times a week, I should have thought of that. It's gone from about 6 buses a day to half hourly for most of the day with one of the latest evening services (towards Keighley) serving it and 4-5 others a day on the K19. Before the 60 was diverted that way there were a couple of other routes which had trips diverted that way.

It is not that long ago that the 36 between Leeds and Harrogate was only every 20 minutes, and it is now every 10 minutes.
Scarborough to Malton likewise has doubled from every hour to every 30 minutes (although that may be seasonal, we shall see).
Thirsk to York used to run 3 or 4 times a day, but for the last 10 years or so it has been hourly.
