Anyone know why??? Bradford is working. And tracking is working for Leeds. Guessing it's to do with the timetable update from Sunday, bet they've got next week's timetable early It seems to be picking up most of the data today. The displaying of that data is a bit buggy though. When it first started, it was displaying the journey number for each journey, irrespective of time, or mid journey reliefs. Then it started to display the time that the journey was ‘started/selected’ on the machine. Now it seems to be displaying both that time, and the ‘allocated’ time for the journey, so mid journey reliefs are showing as a separate journey. Journeys that start at the first stop are additionally showing the times for that journey. Lets take a journey as an example. Leaves Terminus at 13:45, and due relief at 13:52. The 2 journey numbers as displayed on the tickets would be “13:45/1345” and “13:52/1345”. V1 - BusTimes would show that as a complete journey - under 1345 V2 - BusTimes would show that as the 2 logon times, so maybe 1341 & 1353 V3 (currently) - BusTimes shows it as 1341 1345 (with stop times) and 1353 1352 (with just the tracking map), so it looks like either they are only getting the ‘time’ part, or they are only displaying that, rather than the ‘journey ID’ part. Any journey ‘manually’ entered is assigned a time of ‘04:15’, hence why some jouneys show as that on BusTimes. If you look at Transdev York, it seems York/Malton track each journey, wheres Idle seem to log a ‘0429’ trip and thats it for the day.

It is unlikely First have any relationship with BusTimes so First may not be able to do anything about it and complaining may go nowhere - it depends on whether there is actually an issue with the First system as First has it set up for their requirements or whether it is just an interface issue that the First setup is causing issues for BusTimes to transfer correctly onto their system. This is going to be a growing issue as Bus Open Data rolls out, that the data provider (app/website operator) has no link to the data source (bus operator) as the former is taking the data/links from a government database so when issues arise there is no relationship to allow issues to be resolved - particularly as the operator will get blamed for any errors regardless of whether they have any involvement (we already see this where we get complaints about errors on sites like Google and when this is pointed out we are told we should get it corrected despite not knowing who supplied the data).

The Department for Transport who own the national database should take ownership of data problems. But its government IT so it will be a clusterf*ck.

Why would you complain at all. BusTimes is a free website provided to try and help people. As far as I'm aware it's not funded by the government/public and the consumer doesn't pay for it. If there's a problem with the data I'm sure they're aware of it and it will get sorted.
If it doesn't work properly I just shrug and go elsewhere. If I want timetables I can go to Metro or the operators or if I'm really desperate Traveline. If I want real time info, again I go to Metro or the operator.
I can understand complaining to these bodies as they are either funded through my taxes or through my fares but complaining to someone who provides a free service seems a little unfair.
Even then with timetable changes coming up I just can't find the energy to get upset about any of this. I just sigh and think I'll have a look tomorrow instead. If I need the information now, I tell myself I should have prepared a little better and blame myself.
The information is always out there.

If people don’t raise these issues, they don’t get sorted. We should not accept poor quality just because it is free. It’s potentially another nail in the coffin as frustrated bus passengers choose alternative modes of transport, most of which affect the bus.

Is that the same system that runs ynb on wymetro? Today is showing the bus I am on as running 15 minutes late, even though I am on it and it's on time! *
* Now resolved

Hmm it was slightly annoying that this forum disappeared from Tapatalk for ½ a day this week. Not the end of the world 🤠

I know we are all in a position of not being able to do lots of things at the moment. But the fact that (no offence meant) you cannot bus spot by media really is not the end of the world. I presume that Bus times will get it sorted out eventually, you will all just have to be patient.

I've never known anybody put in a complaint about a free website, not connected in any way to any organisation, that has in fact been set up by a member of the public. The poor bloke may end up firing himself lol. On a serious note, bus times does raise a good point, there should be a government funded national website out there listing all bus times throughout the UK, after all bus times has shown it can be done, saves frustrated members of the public trawling through multiple websites, or messing about with google maps, to find actual timetables for where they need to go which is very handy if you want to see everything, such as where the bus calls at, how long it takes etc on one quick to find easy to read sheet.

The extensions .org and .com are not restricted and available to all. Prices vary.

I think that the bus companies might have access to BusTimes to carry out administration work. That might include taking their company off live reporting if they so wish. Only they would know that vehicles have been removed from the fleet for example. Also remember that BusTimes only reports information provided to it by the ticket machines, which need changing when moved to another vehicle.

People need to remember that BusTimes is a free service not provided by the government or the operator or anyone publically
If it doesn’t work for a bit, just come back later, if the fleetlists are a mess, join them together yourselves
Shows how quickly people take services like this for granted, it’s only about a year since FWY started tracking at all. The alternative could be for BusTimes to not exist at all

Also remember that BusTimes only reports information provided to it by the ticket machines, which need changing when moved to another vehicle. I don't think any operators will have any involvement in BusTimes, we certainly have never had any contact with them, they are simply one of many independent 3rd party data agglomeration sites (just one run by enthusiasts, so they provide data in forms particularly interesting and useful to bus enthusiasts) and is providing that data for free - it was originally set up by the founder as a hobby though whether he has been able to dedicate more time to it as it gets bigger. We are going to have to get used to data suppliers like this who have no connection with the operators whose data they are feeding so when things go wrong there is little that can be done to fix it - they will be taking their data somewhat indirectly (effectively this will be coming through the Bus Open Data system now), there are probably 4 organisations and even more steps this data gets through before it is displayed on the BusTimes website and by the time an error has been noticed and which organisation & stage has created the error it will probably fix itself as a revision has gone through normally. There doesn't appear to be any mechanism in the BODS system for errors, either failures on the operator side or errors like not updating changes from the 3rd party site, to be easily fixed as there are no direct contacts between operator and end data site.

Seems to possibly be a issue with the Open Data Feed,
Metro having issues with several routes missing from their data and not showing on next stop displays as well
