I can't understand in this day and age of twitter, facebook etc why at least one local agency does not provide comprehensive 24 hour information on disruptions to public transport, road closures etc. Today, for once Metro have done quite well with comprehensive updates, however their updates on twitter, and the website seem to end at 8pm. When you look on the Leeds City Council twitter page, that too seems to end around 7pm. Tonight, the snow has come to South Leeds, and no doubt elsewhere, a number of roads in South West Leeds, Pudsey, Rothwell etc are still flooded, and the risk of flooding elsewhere continues. but where will the information be on bus service disruptions, road closures etc? It wouldn't cost that much for the WYCA to pay someone overtime to update information, at least on twitter for those who have to travel later this evening. The council and police won't stop closing newly flooded roads overnight, and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to pass on quick updates to WYCA staff, or even share tweets themselves. Clearly the 24 hour society has come to an abrupt halt, I pity the night workers who finish early tomorrow, the late workers tonight etc.

Buses don't run 24 hrs in West Yorkshire so why would there be 24hr updates? Also, all of the big operators are tweeting service disruptions, if you catch a 16 in Leeds why would you want to search through a million updates relating to an Arriva service in Wakefield, makes no sense. If you catch a service provided by one operator surely you follow them, if you can catch multiple operators then follow them all.

First WY were updating their feed until end of service tonight.
Actually it's unusual as the previous two snow days all the local operators including WY METRO stopped updating mid-afternoon.

Don't you just hate it when someone hasn't read the original post and comes up with a one liner that clearly shows this, I clearly stated road closures as well, not just public transport, cars are allowed to travel on roads 24 hours a day. As for the updates, yes First made an update, however there was a mighty 5 to 6 hour gap depending on where you live! Now, First could have been more re-assuring by putting out a tweet at the usual closing time that they will keep the site updated until the last bus. LCC did do one tweet a little while ago stating the river up Wetherby was on alert, they too could have put out a re-assuring tweet stating they will keep everyone informed of every disruption in the council area for as long as needed. Also, people use more than one operator where I live so having all bus info on one website saves them trawling through up to 3 operators twitter feeds!

The demand is much less in the evenings & the cost outweighs the benefit in my opinion.
You're reliant on information coming from a multitude of sources, operators, Local Authorities, Police etc. If that information doesn't filter through, you've paid someone upward of £15p/h to send out a few updates to a few hundred people that have been looking for it.
