just been looking at the tracking for cityzapp. today they seem to be going down A63 Pontefract Lane and M1 to get to the A64/M1 junction. Both the Transdev and Bustimes websites agree on this. Is this normal or is there some reason why they are diverted today?

i think the city zap buses have sat nav fitted and they use the quickest route in and out leeds because they dont serve any intermediate stops on route.
i saw an advert on back of one of the buses. transdev call it “zapnav”.

Hi there Everytime I have taken or seen a CityZAP this is the route it takes out of Leeds. They do have sat-nav fitted but usually this is the quickest route anyway.

Thats right about the Zapnav the driver picks the fastest route on the sat nav so the bus doesn't and hopefully get stuck in any heavy traffic

Most times out of Leeds I’ve seen Cityzap use A63 through Cross Green and M1 from J45 up to A64.
I have seen Cityzap use A64 York Road ( like coastliner, but omitting Seacroft) very rarely. But that’s only if say ( delay or accident on M1) but as it’s non stop out of Leeds , it can use any suitable sat nav route.

Just seen this on metro website so lookd like pontefract lane becoming fixed route
CityZap (Leeds-York service) will be suspended during lockdown from Sunday 8 November until Sunday 13 December. There will be a route and timetable change to operate via Pontefract Lane, and serve Bell Wood Roundabout bus stops, for the Amazon Warehouse on all journeys. The timetable will be published soon.

That is interesting if it was to become permanent post Covid. PR2 serves the city centre, Cityzap serves the bus station. Mind you the 15 already serves the bus station area
