Hello Over a year after the 'Most scenic bus route', I was wondering if anybody here had any bus routes in West Yorkshire that they think are scenic, be it natural beauty or passing through pretty postcard towns and villages. All routes are appreciated but would prefer if mainly West Yorkshire routes. (Ie a route out of the county is appreciated as long as the scenic part is within West Yorkshire)
Personally I would say the 7 after Seacroft to Wetherby, the 173A/174/174A after Garforth to Wetherby and the 175 after Castleford to Micklefield.
Look forward to hearing your responses.

I bash around on scenic routes when ever I get some free time, which at the moment is a hell of a lot. There are tons of routes I can recommend but I will try and keep it concise. For me, my favourite route is the 308, Huddersfield - Holmfirth. Nothing beats going through Oldfield and Netherthong on a full size double decker. You can then get a 335 which comes into Holmfirth just after the 308 gets in. It takes you over to Slaithwaite via Netherthong and Meltham. 232 is a fantastic route when a decker is available, going from Huddersfield over to Wakefield via Emley. The most scenic route in terms of being in the middle of nowhere is probably the 900. This runs to Hebden Bridge from Huddersfield twice a day. There is the 901 as well but the 900 is much more scenic. X84 to Skipton. Once you have battled your way through Headingley you head out towards Otley, Ilkley and Skipton. The part between the latter is the best. The 592 between Todmorden and Burnley is particularly nice. I would have recommended the 517 but unfortunately this no longer runs. Witchway from Skipton to Manchester is another long, scenic route. I have always enjoyed the X99 Leeds to Wetherby but more for peering into the huge gardens and houses as the bus passes through East Keswick and Linton. Though outside of West Yorkshire, the 24 Harrogate to Pateley Bridge has some stunning views. There are dozens more suggestions but this should keep you going for a while

Would love to try the 592 just wondering if it follows the same route as Rosso's 8 to Burnley from Todmorden? I would also like to try the 900 but never seem to be able to time it right. Is the 338 First, Stotts or TLC?

Slightly outside West Yorkshire but two more to add to the list
South Pennine Community Transport via Home Miss and the Woodhead Road to Glossop and also the service from Holmfirth over the Pennines to Greenfield and Ashton

I found part of route 537 scenic from a double-deck last year. Also some Keighley - Haworth routes.

Can recommend the K14-16 routes that serve various parts of Bronte-land. Some spectacular views, some narrow roads and the Sprinter minibuses are good fun to ride round on.

I particularly like the B3 between Haworth and Heb Bridge, will have to look at K14-16 timetables to see if they are timely enough to do in one day.

I particularly like the B3 between Haworth and Heb Bridge, will have to look at K14-16 timetables to see if they are timely enough to do in one day. They only use 1 bus a day on these routes. However the K14 only runs on Sundays. The K15 and K16 do not run on Sundays. The old M1-M6 routes used 2 buses with all of them running on Monday to Fridays.

Is the 338 First, Stotts or TLC? 592 comes out of Todmorden and follows Burnley Road through Lydgate, Cornholme, Portsmouth until Walk Mill then we turn Right up Mount Lane. Mount Lane is a road that a bus shouldn't be going up but we do, it then follows Red Lees Road over the tops and "Back of Beyond" into Burnley past The Turf. I drive the 592 every day, easy when you've done it so many times.

67 Bradford to Keighley is a pleasant alternative to the "direct" route 616 (619) Bradford to Eldwick

67 Bradford to Keighley is a pleasant alternative to the "direct" route 616 (619) Bradford to Eldwick 616 619 aren’t very scenic to be honest. Only really Eldwick terminus. Roads through Wilsden and Harden are just full of trees so you can’t really see much. Fun drive down the twines though, can get a good bit of speed out of a streetlite. The view at Eldwick is good, and the view from Stoney Lane terminus is also good.

Pretty much all the DalesBus services are nice and scenic, mainly for the latter part of the routes. Granted the majority of them only run seasonally, although some run year-round. For example, the 874 to Buckden via Grassington and Leeds (from Wetherby) runs year-round.
They're also a great way of getting to the dales and far away places from Leeds (such as Hawes) for cheap, particularly as a result of the current £4 return fare cap which will last til the end of June 2023, after beginning at the start of January 2023.

Despite starting this thread well over three years ago now I thought given I've taken hundreds of buses since then it would be useful to add more to this, some of those not mentioned
7 Todmorden to Rawtenstall (mostly just to Bacup, but I would say this is my favourite transpennine route) 36 Leeds to Ripon (around Harewood the views are great on a clear day) 184 Huddersfield to Oldham (between Marsden and Uppermill the views and landscape are breathtaking) (Previously 409 Pontefract to Doncaster especially up to Norton, nice little villages and miles of landscape)
Additionally, those entirely outside of West Yorks that I feel deserve a mention: 59 Harrogate - Skipton 481 Blackburn - Rawtenstall 483 Rawtenstall - Burnley 555 Lancaster - Keswick (especially Kendal to Windermere and Grasmere to Keswick) 685 Carlisle - Newcastle X6 Kendal - Barrow in Furness (especially Kendal to Ulverston)
I would eventually like to try the KLCH Craven Connection but I can't imagine the journey would be too pleasant on a single deck

Also the 29 tm travel.from Holmfirth to sheffield/Chapeltown, when it gets to hade edge and Dunford bridge the views on a clear day are spectacular, I've driven that route in the past and I used to love the duty that did them

595 Crimsworth & 596 Blackshaw Head are both reasonably scenic for the length of the routes.

401 Selby to Goole is definitely a nice one, flat scenery with small pleasant villages and church spires in the distance.
