hey tonight (30/6/08) caught volvo olympian 515 from batley to leeds & was confronted with this. im guessing arriva must be maintaining their fleet of oldish buses quite well if this is the state the let them get in. was also quite dangerous as was cracks around the eges of the light which was only been supported by 1 screw!!!. also only half the lights were working as shown in pic.

Let's not be all sensationalist here - chances are it is a result of vandalism and i'm fairly sure that the start of day vehicle check wouldn't have ignored this problem.

May I say I caught This bus at 6.15 in the morning when it was on 229. Was surprised to see this as well. Would they have been vandals on the bus at this time of morning?

so i suppose the dodgy electrics are result of vandalism as well & high revving gears it had?

I so suppose the CCTV would have picked anyone vandalising the wire work, likely it came with just one screw in.

On these buses you can turn one side of the lights off and still leave the other side on.

OK... well I was making a first for myself by actually trying to stick up for Arriva for something rather than slating them like I normally do. It will be both the first and last time I do so!
