Hello folks, i am hoping to begin to collaborate knowledge of all things to do with the Mini Bus era within Bradford area from around deregulation to the current day i hopeful anticipation that i can enhance my own thoughts. I am looking for any rare photos, timetables, route maps and general knowledge about how the mini bus era began with Yorkshire Rider as i am quite filled on its modern day demise with First Bradford already. Thank you in advance.

679 from Hirst Wood to Bradford via Shipley, Bolton Woods and Frizinghall Road during the 709D era. Can't remember the exact route taken between Shipley and Bolton Woods, but i know it either came along Festival Avenue or down Gaisby Lane, up to Bolton Woods, back down past the end of Festival Avenue, down to Canal Road, turned right then left onto Frizinghall Road. Was quite a novelty.

Does anyone remember the late-80s minibus route that went from Thornton (West Lane) via a really weird route to Shipley? I remember taking that route one Saturday afternoon around 1988 or so, as a child.

I remember taking that route one Saturday afternoon around 1988 or so, as a child. Ran only on weekday mornings, linking Thornton, BRI, Heaton and Shipley. The bizarre route was devised after ptb decided the bus wouldn't run alongside ANY commercial routes. 627 later 672. Hill Top (Thornton) via West Lane, Leaventhorpe Lane, Middlebrook estate, Rhodesway, Wheatland estate, Park Drive (Heaton) and various back roads in Shipley.

The original 629 ran via New Otley Road and part of Thorpe Edge estate, was every 12 mins for a while, before cut back to hourly.
The 811 Bolton Belter ran via parts of Bolton (Bradford) to Bolton Junction.
When the new Morrison's opened at Five Lane Ends , this was used as a major hub and various routes interworking here in a complex pattern as all routes were on a different frequency to each other.

Was quite a novelty. I believe from Shipley it went on to Leeds Road, Carr Lane, Gaisby Lane left at the bottom of Gaisby Lane then right onto Canal Road, Frizinghall Road, onto Keighley road then into Bradford that way. The route missed Bolton Woods all together and never served that area unless it did a u-turn at the top [Livingstone Road, Stanley Road, Bute Street] but i never recall that. I do remember the 679 as my grand parents live on Gaisby Lane and as a child i remember looking out for the bus haha. The route interworked with the 810 at Hirst Wood/Saltaire.

Ah, I must have taken it during school holidays then. I remember thinking West Lane was a weird place to get a bus from even when I was about 8 years old.

Re: above. The Keighley to Bradford via Denholme bus was diverted via Hill Top early 1970s? and originally ran via West Lane for a few months, before the present route down James Street

Three more very limited & rarely used services from the late 1980s. There was a route that went through Norwood Green, which I seem to remember was a circular route from Wainman Street in Wyke. I drove this just once. There was the Bingley MiniBus which started at the Railway Station & did three different short routes around Bingley, Gilstead and Eldwick, repeating them several times over a 3 or 4 hour stint. One of the routes served the 5-Rise Locks via Park Road, Hall Bank Drive & Beck Lane. Another one, or maybe the same one went to Lady Lane & College Road. The third route was longer, around Gilstead & Eldwick. It went to the flats on Crosley Wood Road where you had to do a three point turn if you couldn't turn round in the car park. There was always lots of standing time between services at the Railway Station, due mainly to there being very few passengers. In fact I remember doing it and not having a single passenger all morning. I think this route was usually an Optare MetroRider. The last one was just one journey from Woodlands Orthopaedic Hospital at about 8.10 pm, after the evening visiting time had finished, to Bradford. I did this a couple of times in an Optare StarRider (wonderful bus), which means it was probably tagged on to the end of a 630 Tyersal Board.
