wasnt this originally known as the 589 until circa 1978 also for how long did keighley and district and first calderline run this route in conjunction with each other? finally was the 500 shortened to Hebden Bridge in 2007 when K&D took over full time or was it after that? sorry for the large number of posts but im in one of my research moods today!

K and D and Yorkshire Rider/ First tan the route together in the 90s well into 2007. K and D took it over when they realised the 663 and 500 went the same way between Keighley and Oxenhope. So dropped the hourly 663 for an hourly 500 which did the full Hebden bridge runs more often. 500 , I think kept the Keighley to Oxenhope runs during evenings in place of a 663 . 664 and 665 still operating with their numbers until the Brontebus phase of recent. If someone has better knowledge of the routes Correct me on this.

These might be in a bit of a random order - they're not as handy as I thought.
At February 1969, Service 19 ran twice a day (2/3 times on a Saturday) between Keighley and Hebden Bridge. It was jointly run by Keighley-West Yorkshire and Todmorden JOC. It avoided central Haworth.
Times were:
Keighley 0905M-Sa 1115Su 1215Sa 1500Sa 1520Su 1612M-F Oxenhope 0923 1133 1233 1248Sa 1518 1538 1630 HB 0945 1155 1311 1540 1600 1652
HB 1010M-Sa 1030Su 1215Sa 1405Sa 1505M-F 1630Su Oxenhope 1034 1054 1239 1240Sa 1429 1529 1654 Keighley 1051 1111 1257 1446 1546 1711
There were short 18s to Oxenhope with a few continuing via Leeming to Denholme. Between all the 18s and 19s there was a roughly hourly service.

The 19 became the 589 after the 1970s renumbering, at the time operating from Todmorden depot only, so used Todmorden as a terminus for operating convenience.
It was relaunched as the 500 tourist bus, serving Oxenhope and Haworth railway stations. (bus 589 went along the main road via Haworth Brow, and did not serve Haworth or Oxenhope stations at the time).
Additional trips from Keighley depot didn't serve Todmorden.

Found a few consecutive timetables:
In 1991 (May timetable) the 500 ran Hebden Bridge to Keighley.

It ran Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year, Sundays 5/12/19 May, BHM 6 May, Daily 26 May - 29 September. The first bus of the day each way did not run on Sundays (but did on Bank Holidays).
From the April 19 1992 timetable) the 500 ran Keighley to Todmorden.
Todmorden bus station 1035 (K&D) 1135 (YR) 1335 (YR) 1635 (YR) taking 59 minutes to Keighley Keighley 0935 (K&D) 1235 (YR) 1435 (YR) 1735 (YR) taking 55 minutes to Todmorden.
It ran Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the year, Sundays 19/26 April, Daily 3 May - 27 September. The first bus of the day each way only ran Wednesday and Saturday until 23 May.

By 1979, when I started at Halifax, the Rochdale- Burnley via Tod had become the 589, can't for the life in me remember if the 500 became the 500 then or not. I left in July 1992 so cannot be sure thereafter. What I do know is that in the Summer of 1991,(or it could be 1990), I had the privilege of doing the 500 service all Summer Monday to Friday. The duty went something like this 1015 Halifax to Keighley, 1145 Keighley to HB, 1300 HB to Kei, 1530 Kei to HB, 1630 HB to Kei, 1730 Kei to HFX via HB. There was a K&D bus on early doors, but that from memory disappeared for a while and then did a trip in the afternoon, and was I think about 1700 from HB. Tod then ran the service on a Saturday and a Sunday, when I worked one of my days off on the 900, HB to Huddersfield. Lovely duty the 500, got my eggs from a Farm just out of Oxenhope, waited time at Oxenhope talking to Jack( who was the Old Gentleman on the KWVR Postcard), who lived in the now demolished Station House, and it was definitely 1hr 30 meal break in Keighley, and definitely finished back at Skircoat about 1840. The last stretch from HB was done a bit fast especially after the longqueue up to Haworth Cross Roads had held you up!!

Just noticed this thread not seen it before, while First already serve between the two areas, I feel if the B3 extended to Todmorden as well as serving Hebden Bridge Station or Rosso 7 extended to Hebden Bridge Station it might make it easier for train connections? I use the 7 regularly and I am quite annoyed that I have to wait 40 minutes between train and bus at Todmorden because there are only two trains per hour and both timed quite poorly, I'd take First but then it's just paying for more and more tickets.. If the 7 served Hebden Bridge there are more trains through there from Leeds than that go to Todmorden so would have a shorter wait, however I do understand it's an 'in wildest dreams' scenario as there would be no demand to finance the route and given it's competed on I can't see why any council would subsidise it
