Sorry to start new thread on this but didn't quite know where it belongs.
Following the withdrawal of the Dewsbury-Halifax service (can't remember if it was 278 or 279 - both in past I think), does anyone know how this has affected Dewsbury depot's PVR? I'm assuming it has reduced by 2 or 3 vehicles. I'm guessing that this hasn't changed permanent allocation at Dewsbury but just allowed pool vehicles to be relinquished, given that Dewsbury depot have seemed to making high use of Spectras to cover for vehicles away for repaint. I had thought a couple of new liveried Enviro 200s may go east to replace 261/2.

The vehicles are still in use to allow for the continued repaint/retrim of the final few SB200s.

On a separate note, think we will soon see the end of the 262, since they’ve changed the route I never see anyone on it at all .

wouldn't it make sense if they simply had tiger take over the 278? Lower wages etc? Combine with the original 262 and create a half-hourly frequency between Dewsbury and Mirfield?

It’s only been running 2 weeks, one of those during exceptionally cold weather, you are right axe it immediately. Why would the main flow of the service which is to/from Huddersfield from all the villages have changed? There are 3 buses an hour direct from Mirfield to Dewsbury plus 2 trains an hour, no need for a half hourly Tiger service as well. Also for any pensioners travelling the other way from the villages, I would have thought Brighouse is just as attractive, if not more so, than Dewsbury these days.

The 262 buses I've seen on the mirfield to brighouse leg have all been empty. The service is also only hourly when before the change the 262 was half hourly.
More people from hopton etc. on the 262 route would want to travel to Dewsbury than brighouse due to better shops and connections to Leeds, Wakefield and beyond.
Extending the 221 to brighouse would have been better than amending the 262.

How many passengers did the same 262 journeys used to have between Mirfield and Dewsbury.
I assume it can’t have been many and those on board were not just going to Mirfield where alternatives exist, or they wouldn’t have cut it.

Oooh, Arriva North East? Time for a joint Yorkshire/NE fleet numbering me thinks, given the amount of swaps between operating areas.
Or perhaps a national fleet numbering like Stagecoach and First. Still, that discussion is for another thread.
