Connections have released their x70 timetable with alternate services going through Follifoot replacing the Transdev 70 service. No Sunday service. Harrogate departures through Follifoot go on to Tadcaster but the return services go via Plompton!

Presumably they do not think anyone wants to from Follifoot to Tadcaster and back! Link?

Harrogate departures through Follifoot go on to Tadcaster but the return services go via Plompton! I would imagine there is very little demand for through journeys between Follifoot/Rudding Park and either Tadcaster or York. The rationale for running different branches through Follifoot in each direction will be to balance out the running time. Transdev's timetable allows an extra 7 minutes going through Follifoot compared with direct. If the same branch was diverted in both directions then it would add 15 minutes to the round trip for those two diagrams but no difference to the other two diagrams. This would leave one branch at a high risk of unreliability. By spreading the load so that all diagrams have an extra 7 minutes on a round trip (either inbound or outbound), there is a better chance of the service remaining reliable.

For off-peak services, the Wetherby only service takes 20 minutes direct and 30 minutes returning via Follifoot. The Tadcaster service has 25 minutes to Wetherby via Follifoot and 20 minutes on to Tadcaster, with 25 & 25 for the return direct. All services have 5 minutes at Wetherby.

CityZap Leeds-Manchester timetable is now available on the Lancashire Bus website. Peak-time journeys are re-timed with some extra running time added. Most Monday-Saturday buses from Leeds have been re-timed to arrive into Manchester 5 minutes later, while Sunday journeys from Manchester will depart Ainley Top and arrive into Leeds 3 minutes earlier. lancashirebus.co.uk/cmsUploads/route/files/CityzapLDSMANApril18WEB.pdf

Can’t think of any logical way for the 59A to “avoid” Royston, unless they mean its operating straight along Church Road, and not serving Church Lane, Cross Lane & Midland Road.

The Metro leaflet does say "70 Leeds • Seacroft • Boston Spa • Wetherby • Follifoot • Harrogate Sun 15 Apr Operated by Harrogate Bus Company This service will be renumbered to service 7" in addition to "7 Leeds • Seacroft • Boston Spa • Wetherby • Spofforth • Harrogate Sun 15 Apr Operated by Harrogate Bus Company Service 71 will be renumbered 7 and a revised timetable will be introduced. A halfhourly Monday to Saturday daytime and hourly evening and Sunday through service will continue to be operated between Leeds and Harrogate via Wetherby and Spofforth" which may mean Transdev still operate on Sundays via Follifoot

The extra off-peak short workings via Follifoot disappear, and at other times journeys which previously ran via Follifoot will now start or finish at Harrogate 7/8 mins later/earlier.

According to NYCC the Little Explorer changes are the cancellation of the "express" positioning journeys 22X 0630(M-F) 0725 (Sat) York-Knaresborough, 23X 0640 York - Boroughbridge, 23X 1850 Boroughbridge - York and 22X 1900 Knaresborough - York.
In respect of the 72 they comment "9 return journeys approximately every two hours" which is possibly more inaccurate than Transdevs advert of every hour.

Wondering if they intend to interwork the 22/23 with another service such that two of the vehicles can be rostered to start/end the day at Boroughbridge or Knaresborough so potentially being based at Starbeck and significantly reducing dead mileage by 30 miles a day in the case of Knaresborough and 16 miles in the case of Boroughbridge, cumulatively 276 miles a week which should be a significant factor on a service of limited finances.

It did always seem a bit odd to work the route from Fulford rather than Starbeck, for that very reason. I wondered if it was because they didn't want anything as low-rent as a Dart sullying the Harrogate yard

I'm assuming they would do that, it would save a lot of dead mileage. If they aren't doing that and the buses are continuing to dead run back to York, I would be confused as to why - the X variants do pull in 2-3 passengers and whilst it's not a lot, it's better than nothing for what would just be a dead run.

Suppose instead of interworking they could base all at Starbeck with one outbased each night at York and use the Versas on it, assuming the Electrics have arrived by then.

Just spotted that the graphic for the 72 shows an Eclipse 2 ... Transdev are usually pretty accurate with these pictures, so are they really going to upgrade the route to big buses (would a B7RLE even fit through Hetton and Linton?), or are they being a bit cheeky with this one?
