Appologies if this isn't allowed but I'm thinking about going back bus driving after a 18month career change and was just wondering how much Arriva Drivers were on and if there was any staff perks? I've worked for Stagecoach and First so I know their staff perks.
Regards Luke

Regards Luke £11.23 an hour (apart from selby) after a year but as your qualified driver they sometimes put you straight on top rate when short/recruiting. They have a rewards website like First Xclusives, childcare vouchers and cycle to work scheme. Free travel on Tyne and Wear Metro, some ex-colleagues of mine got on Grand Central and Arriva Wales using staff pass but wouldn't take it for granted. Pension wise there is still a defined benefit scheme with an open window for new people a couple of months every 3 years.

Arriva Yorkshire New Starters, with or without PCV licence start on £8.96 for first 12 months, then for the next 24 months, they go to the next rate, then at start of year 4, you'll be on top rate. If, you work your day off while on the lower rates, you get paid the top rate at that time. This applies to Heckmondwike, Dewsbury, Castleford and Wakefield depots, as already mentioned, Selby depot is on a lower rate.

Not allowed to do that, as per the wage agreement, voted in by the drivers years ago, which IS still in force.

On a side note to the free travel, this summer I went to Whitby and tried to use the Park &Ride. Apparently the Nth Yorks Council don't allow us to use our passes on this service and the drivers will knock you back to my annoyance and dismay.

Thank you for your quick replies. I live in between both Wakefield and Castleford depot but more drawn to Wakefield. Just wondering if anybody knows anything regarding routes and viechles etc. At first I had a group of routes to drive.
Sorry for all the questions

Selby on £9ph across the board and yes free travel but it’s swings and roundabouts some operators let you use your pass some don’t bus as for me we all drivers so if show me a staff Pass whether bus or train as I’ve used it on Northern few times but always ask first. I came into the bus industry 15 years ago and use to love now it’s like any other job as it’s ups and downs

I’m applying for Wakefield depot just wondering if anyone has a service list so I know what I need to route learn Regards Luke You will get a week (or is it 2?) route learning to do all the routes and then out with a mentor for 3 days I believe. Certainly changed since I started and we have lost a lot of routes over the years. Penfold
