I'm hearing unconfirmed 'rumours', that Metro are taking these runs off Tiger, due to their failure to provide the new buses by last Sunday or this coming Sunday. And that First will gain 757, and Transdev the 737 & 747.
Does any member know for certain?

I don't know for certain, but I doubt it. Don't they have brand new E200s coming soon, too?

I, knew that they were getting some new E200's, and would've thought, that these would now have arrived and be in service. Only reason, I'm asking is, cos the info came off a Transdev driver, and he was told by someone in a management position.

When I was speaking to a YT driver the other week he said the new buses are on order but they haven't even started manufacturing of the first one. Obviously this could have changed in the last few weeks.

I'll believe it when i see it. After all, if Metro aren't happy at Tiger using 06 reg Cadet's, why move the tender to Transdev who'll no doubt use Y reg B10BLE's? Even if they use B7RLE's, they're not much newer than what Tiger use. Not even sure if vehicle type/age would be a valid reason to reallocate a contract?

Obviously this could have changed in the last few weeks. One has been completed and was seen at Plaxtons in Scarborough complete livery With full branding with light blue added to the livery at the front.

can't remember but all i know is first will never be allowed back in When they lost the contract for the 757 they decided to still run the service anyway as a commercial service. Didn't last long. Airport were funny about granting them access and as it's private land they needed permission

can't remember but all i know is first will never be allowed back in When they lost the contract for the 757 they decided to still run the service anyway as a commercial service. Didn't last long. Airport were funny about granting them access and as it's private land they needed permission In the end the airport were never prepared to actually force First out (as First just continued operating it wasn't a case of First requesting permission and instead required an active process by the airport to push them out), I think the airport had legal concerns but it (they went through the process up to the final step of actually taking the decision but baulked at the last stage) became fairly moot quite soon after when First decided to end their service anyway but you suspect that now they only have the single operator they would be more prepared to actually enforce their powers (though the Luton Airport case has set a precedent - they have the power to restrict who has access but absolute exclusivity is an issue. In the Luton case they gave NatEx first refusal on any new routes to any part of London, they also exempted Easybus from the exclusivity which also caused an issue with Arriva being pushed out). I never got the impression that there would be a ban on First in the future and the airport seem prepared to talk to First during this period, First were given the same opportunity to bid for access rights as Centrebus when the Airport were looking at restricting access, so it is unlikely that relationships are that bad. The Airport may like single operator provision but they can't actually legally enforce it, they can encourage it in terms of favouring an option from an existing supplier over another and they can limit to a single operator on a route but if an operator wanted to offer a link that wasn't otherwise offered commercially whilst meeting any quality requirements that apply to all other operators then I'm not sure they could be kept out. As others have said the 757 is a commercial service so Metro have no powers at the moment to hand it over to anyone else, the Airport could remove YT's operating rights for the 757 (it would depend on those operating rights being tied to a specific quality provision requirement) but they would need to have a much better reason than the promised new buses are a little late being delivered and there would have to be a proper tendering process not just inviting other operators.

Thanks guys for all your replies.
Like I said, it's what I was told by a Transdev employee. I, personally couldn't see it being taken off one operator and passed to another. But.....in this industry, anything's possible.

The following tweet doesn't sound like one made by a company about to lose it's airport services:

The following tweet doesn't sound like one made by a company about to lose it's airport services: I must ride one when I do Bradford & Keighley in September. I expect they will have leather seats like the 757 Versas.

I wonder how long before they look as awful as the versas do, the interiors are filthy, non working blinds and missing external decals hardly a flagship service like they seem to think!!!!

Well Versa 795 has now been repainted into the same livery as the new E200MMCs.
Let's see if all 5 get painted before YT change their livery (again), as I don't think many repaint/refurbishment programmes have been seen through to completion.

I think your comment is spot on, the whole operation is now shoddy to say the least, I recently travelled on a 757 versas with non working front blinds, filthy interior, notices sellotape on windows dating from October 2016! There is little attention to detail at all staff look appallingingly dressed not in uniform or their own version of it, staff wearing earphones. Hardly a great show pice for our city when visitors arrive, to be honest I see the new fleet looking much the same in a few months time, a real shame really.

Seems a bit odd that they've taken away the Tiger stripes now, but I do like this new livery! Will any future, 'normal' Tiger repaints be in the same style as this, but orange? or is that style just for the Flying Tigers? Tiger Blue is/was a very fine example of a repaint/refurb programme that was never completed, there's still a few buses in basic K-line livery (without titles [or 'fleet names'] ) kicking about, one of these being a very sorry looking cadet 624

They look good. I'm not sure about the "wood effect" floor, but it's different I suppose. I just hope tiger can look after them.
