Got to send a full size desktop PC from London to Blackpool for repair. Never shipped such a large heavy item before. Would appreciate advice.

I recently suffered from a major problem with my desktop. Fortunately pictures from my camera and other important date I had moved to an external hard drive nbefore I encountered the problem. The quote I received for repair and shipping was greater than buying a decent new PC. I found that it was very easy to load my previous applications games etc onto the new PC without many problems. Hope this helps.

If you can open the computer, put some sort of protection inside as hard drives are extremely sensitive to vibrations and knocks. Back said hard drive up before shipping, and enclose the whole computer in open-cell polystyrene to further protect it.
