What’s funny is that it’s not the first time Coastliner buses have ended up with Rosso and operated in the Coastliner livery, just last time Rosso bought them on the open market.

Probably not as confusing as York however where a Keighley livered vehicle could be either still working for Transdev or for York Pullman.

Typical Transdev style - promised to replace the entire fleet Are you sure on that, the entire fleet ? 425 has also moved to Rosso, who also now have 4 ex Burnley Streetlights (606-609) with 601-605 still to follow and Keighley Dart 710. Cityzap B7RLEs 1868-1871 and five ex Isle of Man / Nottm Tridents 2801-2805 are also to move to Rosso. 16 Opatre Versas are on order. Sorry, I badly phrased that. They promised to replace the entire Coastliner fleet. My bad. The point I was making is Transdev do seem to have a habit of saying a lot about impending new buses and some then don't appear - the majority appear far later than promised. New vehicles for the 60 in Keighley arrived far later than said on Twitter, Coastliner said the remainder would be replaced "early this year"; it's now August and not yet in service are any of the *three* (only 3) new buses, the electric buses were promised on Twitter early this year and are only just arriving. I'm not saying any other company are better, having said that.

The existing fleet have had issues so its possible that the three new buses (which is all they now need to achieve maintenance of the reduced PVR at Malton) have had modifications undertaken to them hence the delay. There is always also the issue of a supplier quoting a delivery date and then putting it back.

I am encouraged that the initial electric buses are due to enter service in mid-August. I plan to ride one, together with route 22, before the end of the year.

Keighley based President 440 which has recently been working out of the York depot appears to have returned to Keighley today.

York has also gained a couple of Versas, 216 from Burnley and 212 from Harrogate.

At least one of the new electrics at Harrogate was in service use today - a work colleague having travelled on it on a route 6 working.

And yet another Versa now at York, 205 from Blackburn. Volvo are replacing engines on the B5TLs at Malton and Harrogate as a warranty repair which presumably explains why B7RLEs keep on turning up on the 36. The Electric on display in Harrogate today was 801 BV18 XZA

One of the Transdev team had been hinting on the "Friends of the 42" Facebook page that there was some long-overdue good news coming soon. Good news! But desperately needed. The situation was becoming untenable with the Darts breaking down more often than most people change their socks. Dissatisfaction from passengers was soaring and they were starting to lose passengers, despite sterling efforts by the drivers to keep things running, because people just can't rely on the buses to turn up. They needed to do something – it was either going to be new buses or abandoning the route, so it's great to see that it's new buses. Interesting that the sketch appears to show an Enviro 200 MMC ... by my reckoning, that's the first ADL bus that Transdev/Blazefield have bought since 2004, after 14 years where they have lived off Volvo and Optare (plus a handful of Wrightbus and Mercedes/Mellor).

Part of the route is tendered by NYCC, so abandoning it wouldn’t have been that straightforward. I’d also be very surprised if the buses are being purchased.

I think this is to plug the vehicle shortage being seen at the moment and to replace the highly unreliable darts. York's lost mileage keeps rocketing.
But no doubt we'll be told a few hundred times that this is all "amazing"....

There was quite a good explanation about that in a Flickr description from a photo of one of the B5TLs. Apparently they've had difficulties with the starter motors and then failures as pistons have broken suddenly through their casing.
The 36s have had the same issue.

The latest WYIS fleetlist confirms wyis.byethost17.com/Blazefield.pdf the new vehicles for the 42 being a pair of ADL Enviro 200 MMCs which would indicate a need to keep at least one Dart at York as cover, on the basis that the 22 and 23 can be worked by the Versas

Dealer stock white, a sign of desperation from Transdev?
