Maybe it could be seen as flying in the face of what this forum's all about (public transport), But i'm sure many forum members drive their own cars and ride motorbikes etc, So as this is the canteen section, i was just wondering if there was any other members like me who are also passionate car or motorbike enthusiasts. Maybe you'd like to post in and and tell all about your car or bike, and what makes it so special to you, or perhaps ask for tips or advice on any vehicle purchase you may be intending to make etc. As an HGV driver for the past 30yrs (a job i love), an avid motorbike rider and enthusiastic car driver, I love all forms of powered and wheeled transportation and believe the joy of driving or riding should be celebrated, and what better place to engage in discussion than a transport forum. So, to start, i currently own and drive a 2013 Vauxhall Insignia CDTI tourer (my daily hack), a 2002 VW Golf GTI (ongoing project), and ride a 2010 Harley 883 sportster (Fair weather only). So thats me. Any other forum members want to tell us what they have?.

I own a 16 reg Peugeot Partner Tepee.
Not a 'cool' car by any stretch of the imagination, but plenty of room for 5 adults in comfort, huge boot, £20 a year tax and nearly 50 to the gallon when on Shell V-Power Diesel.

Whats "cool" or not is only a matter of opinion anyway, So long as you like your car then that's all that matters. You say you use Shell v-power. Do you find an increase in mpg using that fuel, compared to regular supermarket diesel?

It's usually around 10p a litre more but my economy is 2-3 mpg higher, the engine runs smoother with more power lower down the rev range and the detergents keep the engine clean. I'd recommend it as does www.honestjohn.co.uk

I've had all sorts
Started driving from 2015.
Owned a Peugeot 1.4 GLX (YJ52 Reg ) similar to the buses. Sold it off.
I sold it for a SEAT ibiza 1.2TDI in an exotic Lima Green (BD62 Reg), then changed it
I now have a SEAT ibiza 1.2 TSI FR in Alor Blue. (YE66 reg) enjoying this car, as it's more nimble and the car is sporty.

Big smile on my face as i type this, tonight i picked up my Mondeo Titanium estate which has replaced my Insignia tourer. Albeit the Ford is approx 6 months older than the Vauxhall it feels like iv'e arrived home again (in a driving sense). Of the 50+ cars owned by me since i started driving in 1982, the majority have been Ford's and this is the 6th Mondeo estate iv'e owned since my first in 1998. (Just hope it's as good as the others). This one has the Powershift (automatic) transmission and is the first auto car iv'e had since an old Sierra petrol estate in the early 90's. It will get it's acid test next tuesday when i drive down to Llandudno in it. I don't tend to keep my cars long usually changing between 6 and 18 months, i always buy used ex-company cars with above average mileages as i believe they offer the best value on the used car market.

Just wondering if anyone has any comments or observations to share regarding our current governments anti-diesel car stance?. I know what my opinion is. Whats yours?.

Just wondering if anyone has any comments or observations to share regarding our current governments anti-diesel car stance?. I know what my opinion is. Whats yours?. It's definately one big price hike, especially for those who travel long distance , example city to city on car via Motorway. I've had a diesel car, but sold it last year. The car (seat Ibiza) had very good mpg. I drove Leeds to Cardiff and back and didn't have to fuel up once. Still had a range of 50 miles in the tank left, from a 460 mile motorway round trip Went back to petrol, as I realised this was more fuel efficient when it comes to myself. I'm driving in the Leeds urban area 70% of the time, so a petrol seemed more beneficial for that purpose. I think it's quite good in cities like London, were existing congestion charge schemes already exist. Other cities could benefit, but it comes at a major cost from the government, to create low pollution zones in other cities like London.

The last time I drove (and owned) a car was a Ford Escort Mk1. That was in 1992.
