It has been reported on a Facebook site that route branding is returning to London. It is suggested that the following routes will be involved:- X26, 19, 28 and EL1-3(currently being populated with Borismasters). I also understand that some routes in Hayes(West London) are also being considered for route branding. All apparently to do with trying to attract passengers back to London Buses following recent declines in passengers. Link attached to another enthusiasts site where someone has used VLA18(since gone from London) along with other mockups to show what the branding will look like. tangytango.proboards.com/thread/10024/route-branding-comeback?page=5

Very bland, just place names in TFL font written down the side!
With London Buses decline in passenger numbers, I'd like to know if those journeys have transferred to other TFL transport methods, or to the private car, or just not undertaken.
Unlike everywhere else I wouldn't have thought there would be many people driving into London and the route branding encouraging them to travel by bus.

Unlike everywhere else I wouldn't have thought there would be many people driving into London and the route branding encouraging them to travel by bus. TfL don't appear that worried about the decline in numbers as they think most are transferring to walking (though how much of this is just down to the very low average speeds in London making it quicker to walk) or cycling in the central area which they are happy to be encouraging, they claim that they aren't seeing an increase in cars entering the congestion charge zone which would be a bit more of a concern to them. TfL appear to be fairly happy to see a drop in numbers in the central zone and are hoping to be able to move resource out to more outer London where they see a need and demand for a push there, with the upcoming opening of Crossrail and enhancements to Underground services I suspect that there will be more transfer to rail in the near future as well.
