Leeds Bride & Groom to Use First Bus to Travel to & From Wedding
A WEDDING with a difference will take place in Leeds this weekend as a groom and bride plan to use a First bus to travel to and from their big day.
Pete and Jane Zanzottera, of Springfield Mount, Armley, will hop on to the regular number 16 Pudsey to Leeds City Centre bus to travel from home to their wedding ceremony at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday May 31st.
And 30 family and friends will congregate at Leeds Train Station from around 2pm to catch the number 16 bus back to Armley for their wedding reception.
First, the citys biggest bus operator, is delighted that the couple, who are regular First bus users, have chosen to travel by bus for their big day and has rewarded the couple with free bus passes for six months.
Pete and Jane have lived in Armley for 6 years and regularly use the number 16 bus for getting in and out of town with their two children Maisie aged 5 and Joe aged 2, as they find it the most convenient way of getting about for family trips.
Pete Zanzottera said: "We've used the bus since the children were babies as the low floor buses have push chair space and it drops you off right in the middle of town.
"Taking the bus to and from our wedding ceremony seemed the most natural choice although we might get one or two odd looks from the other passengers.
"The ten minute frequency of the buses means we never have to wait long for a bus on and the nearest bus stop to our house is only 100 metres away. If the weather is bad then we can text to find out when the next bus is and walk over to the bus stop when it is due."
A First spokesman said: "We were delighted when Pete and Jane got in touch with us to tell us of their plans to travel by bus on their wedding day.
"We thought it only right and proper that we would give the happy couple an early wedding present and reward them with a bottle of Champagne and special VIP bus passes that allows free travel on our buses for the next 6 months.
"Looking at the bigger picture, it is interesting that this couple have decided to save a substantial amount of money on their mode of wedding transport. It is likely the current bleak economic picture and the high price of fuel will mean more people will consider bus travel over the next few months to save money."
