Looks like the changes that I've suggested here before are actually going to happen. The emergency exit gate is going to be widened and made into the main exit. A hole will be cut in the central reservation allowing buses to turn right, meaning buses will no longer have make a full circuit if the Eastgate roundabout, this should mean services like the 110, 202 etc should save about two minutes. With the current exit no longer in use, a new access for the coach station will be built meaning coaches no longer have to travel through the bus station. Buses are being shuffled down the stands from next week filling empty bays leaving the top three empty to enable these works, whether this is permanent I'm not sure. See these plans democracy.leeds.gov.uk/documents/s155356/Plan%20-%20Supercrossing%201.pdfdemocracy.leeds.gov.uk/documents/s155354/report%20to%20chief%20officer%20highways%20and%20transportation.pdf

I have been in Manchester today and it is light years beyond Leeds in terms of integrated transport. Even though this bus station improvement is only a small thing I think it is finally a good sign that the whole network could be seeing massive changes in the coming years.

At least we don't have long distance buses departing from a scruffy back street, or bus stations with 100 buses an hour going from the same stand like they do in Manchester.
According to the report linked to, half the buses from Leeds CBS will be turning right. It will also benefit the Cityzap.
I'd like to see a right turn link from Bishopgate Street to Boar Lane introduced for buses only, which would also help buses navigating the city centre.

Ive been asking for this information for two months.
It is really good to see and will hopefully improve matters for buses.
What would use a Bishopgate Street to Boar Lane link?

Yeah, I must credit Metro on the bus stations we have and the fact that pretty much every bus stop (no matter where it is) has a timetable, more than can be said for greater manchester. Although I think a state of the art transport hub needs to be built at the train station entrance, it will improve the look of it and create a modern bus/ train interchange, I also think a covered bus interchange could be created on York street, extending the bus station at that end but for the current through buses that stop there now (16, 4, 5 etc...) making it bus only (sod the cars).

I think the information could be better at Leeds railway station about buses.
I visited White Rose last week. That could do with covering.

New stand arrangements from next Wednesday Stand 5 402, 403 Stand 6 (unaltered) 189, 410 Stand 7 110 Stand 8 202, 203 Stand 9 220, 221, 222, 223 Stand 10 209, 219, 229, Stand 11 117, 225, 252, 254, 255 Stand 12 217, 444, 446, 481, X11 Stand 13 757 Stand 14 72 Stand 15 508, 874, X6 Stand 16 508, 670, 760 Stand 17 33, 33A, 670 Stand 18 6 Stand 19 28, 97 Stand 20 X84 Stand 21 840, 843, 845, ZAP, X40 Stand 22 36 Stand 23 770, 771
Seems to be some change for changes sake, why move the 36 one stand when the 770, 771 could have used 22 instead.

Yay. More traffic lights to contend with on an already very slow moving street.
I understand the benefits, think there's a better alternative out there.
Does it involve shifting Nat Ex taking some front stands and everything that navigates Eastgate Roundabout being given stands at the back, meaning they can turn right at York Street.

I don't think there are more lights, the bus station exit ones will presumably be phased with the pelican crossing ones.
Not much can be done about how busy St Peter's Street is, as it's the main A61, basically a through route, but removing those 41 bus movements will help.

The buses have generally moved two stands down by using stand 5 and filling the empty stand 11 The Arriva end swaps around a bit to be in a more logical order The only difference at the Transdev end is that Coastliner jumps from 25 to 21 meaning the 36/770/771 only move one down, presumably it's better to have Eastgate services in the end bays.

Has anybody spotted a massive error in the written report on the scheme? Since when did any bus from the bus station use Regent Street? Clearly some fool has just assumed this to be the case without checking so let's hope this fool hasn't made any other more serious errors lol.

Instead of having 41 bus movements joining the traffic flow, they now cross 4 lanes of traffic. It's going to slow things down and also have more traffic blocking the box junction at new York Street. Also buses often queue for the layover areas at LCBS,how will that impact departing buses?

A view of the new layout, note that stand F1 on St Peters St gets a bus lane to get around the lights. Also someone needs to tell them the Cop Shop is something completely different now!

Confusing in the bus station tonight as it seems no drivers have been told about the stand changes

York Street needs a good bus interchange hubs. The stop outside Mecca Bingo needs extending to accomodate 2 buses at any given time. That stop is worse for 4 buses arriving at the same time. 3 stops for outbound buses and 1 stop for all inbound buses. Makes no sense. Even when Half of the inbound departures from York Street are through routes.

And no work has started yet, it seems. They would have to move all the wiring underground and the phone hub boxes before they can start work?

Work isn't due to start yet. They were doing something on the roof though requiring scaffolding down stand 26 end.

As usually it's the car drivers waiting for others and Taxi Drivers who often block this bit of York Street. I'm saying this and I drive a car lol, I'd just park in NCP car park across the road. Extend the bus stop further forward, taking over the small loading bay. Creates a long bus stop with 2 openings. passengers can alight without being in the middle of the road.
